u dont like the compass? come on....=) the best part!
i do agree about the plastics. gives the whole honda element feel. however i still like this thing and do intend to be the first on my block with one
They should just put a digital compass on the mirror or something. The compass just looked like an afterthought right there in the middle of the dash./
And why was there no sunroof is beyond me....someone say cost, because the truck had a rear DVD player.

I really hate the the thing it's buttt ugly allmost Nissan Titan like.. The side visibility is bad and overall it looks cheap. I hope Toyota has this as a nitch suv in 3 year's dump it and replace it with a Better looking FJ cruiser ...

Until I see it in person I will reserve final judgement. But from all the pictures and video on tv I have seen I like the look.
Saw one at the Motor Trend International Auto Show in Richmond, VA this past weekend. It drew a lot of attention from the crowd.
I really liked the looks and found the interior comfortable. Back seat room seemed comparable to the new Tacoma Double-Cab but with a more restricted access due to the smaller "suicide" door.
There may be potential blind spots at the rear but I will have to try one out to tell for sure. Also, the rear door is HUGE and opens on side hinges. May have to be careful where you park to make sure you can swing it out when you need to gain access.
After the show closed I saw the vehicle exiting onto the interstate. It looked really cool from a distance.
Looks like the next stop for the show is March 31st-April 2nd in Fresno, CA
Does anyone know when the FJ will be available to purchase?
You can purchase them now. I was at the dealers picking up some parts and the guy I bought my truck off said he sold his first one last week. He said they should be hitting the lots in a couple weeks.

I was there too! We're thinking about buying one as a replacement for the wife's car. We walked around to give her a chance to eyeball the other 4x4 candidates, but I think I got her hooked! I agree with the weirdness of the 3-gauge cluster up on the dash... it did look like an afterthought. Aesthetically, that gauge cluster looks pretty lame where it's sitting, but we're not getting that upgrade package anyway, so fortunately we won't be staring at that thing. We're already on the list at McGeorge Toyota, so we'll see when we can get it. The sales guy says they should start seeing them roll in around April or May, but he said the list right now will probably run through September. Now I gotta work on convincing her how pretty the ARB looks on the front! So far, she's not going for it.

I work for a Toyota dealership in central Illinois. I was told the ship date for the FJ is March 27th, so you should be seeing them about 2 weeks from today.
Yeah, I saw a FJ coming down the fire road to the top of Saddleback Mountain in Southern California a few months ago. When we passed we both had to fold back our mirrors on the narrow part toward the top, the driver of the FJ look a little nervous.
Overall, I kinda like the vintage look, and I saw on the Toyota website that it did the Rubicon trail stock and that’s pretty burly.

There's a yellow one and a black one on the lot up here in Terrace - the oldest Toyota dealership in Canada. If you didn't have to drive 15 hours from Vancouver, lots of people could get some great vehicles up here... the got a huge shipment of Tacomas and have about 20 of them now. They are/were both C packs... $38K and change The yellow one was gone at the end of the day...
I just bought one today. It drives a lot better than my old Grand Cherokee.
Congrats man. My wife and I took one for test drive today. I must say they're really nice, and the quality feels spot on. It felt a lot more "put together" then my Tacoma. I wish they built the Tacoma in Japan. they look way better in person as well, and I like them in the pics. They only had one vodoo blue one at the dealership but there were two other couples looking at it. I'm trying to convince my wife to sell her Accord and get an FJ. She seemed to like it so who knows we'll see. They gota get rid of those crappy street tires though, they don't look right on a truck like that.
