I have the 6 speaker with the internal 6cd changer and I have to say it is the weakest link of my 05 Tundra. My wife's PT Cruiser with the premium sound system Blows the toyota away as far as the bass is concerned. The Toyota bass is very flat and shallow I was very disappointed that a 30k truck did not have a much better sound system in it. Toyota sound systems have not come very far in the 20 years since my last Toyota truck. On the other hand everything else about the truck is 1st rate. In fact I've been searching TS for other owners who are disapointed in their factory sound system and what they did to improve it.
I found the FJ package 6 pack to be very good. It did not come with the Sub, but the 8 inches in the door ROCK! and the shower down system although gimmicky, seems to work as described. Anything louder and you are asking for long term hearing loss. (IMO) I will add a an 8 inch in the future just to kick it up notch.

Salesman claims they are subs. When I listen to it they act perform more like mid-bass @ half volume and sounding more like subs at full volume - performance is a bit muddy overall.

I guess I'll just have to wait to experience it. My only hope is that the wiring is there for the subwoofer and additional speakers that are standard with the upgrade package just in case I want to add.
I was thinking the same about the factory sub harness. Install the Sub switch, plug and play was the thought. When I get a chance I'll get into the back of the switch panel and take a look.
First time comment from a first time user of this forum. Just want to suggest the ease of changing the mirror lamp function. Thought the mirror lamp was hokey and pretty useless so I decided to utilize them to display my turn signal and emergency hazards. Was a neat clean easy process and the result is in my opinion a vast improvement. Now my black cherry FJ looks better at night!

Update please!
I found the harness in the back. Is it as easy as plugging in the sub switch, sub and fuse/relay?
i thought i had six speaker also pop off rear pillar covers and there are two more speakers for eight total havent driven it that way yet to know how much better
The sub wiring is not there already. You have to run it from the head unit to the sub. There are harnesses there to plug into to make it easy, but it's not like you're aren't going to have to take some things apart to run wires, because you will.
The Dash speakers are 2.6"
The door speakers are 6x9"
The Roof speakers are little ribbon tweeter/exciter thingys
The Rear Pillar speakers are 2.6"
The rear Sub is 8"
If you get the upgrade package, you get the rear pillar and the sub speakers.
I agree that the bass in my 2006 Tundra is weak. I have the JB 8 speaker system with navagation. The sound is better in my 2001 Sequoia. Anyone know if there is a place to add a subwoofer such as a Bazooka? The storage compartment under the back seat behind the drivers seat might work.
