Default spare tire wheel lock

Is there a spare tire wheel lock available for the factory 17" aluminum wheel? The set I see advertised from Toyota says a 5 piece set which the 5th piece being the key nut. How do you lock the spare to rear door assembly?

You buy a second set at the auto parts store for $15 and use one of the 4 locks in the set.

Its not the same type of lock. It needs a long type nut with a built in screw head. This could be a problem if its not available as anyone could steal the wheel when parked at the mall.

The Toyota wheel lock kit does lock the spare as well. My FJ came with from the dealer. Go ahaed and order that set.

Order Toyota part# 00276-42960 to get the set of 5 wheel lock nuts. I paid $39. from my Toyota dealer parts dept. They are the type with the long nut with the washer and "nipple" that fits into the wheel so that no bolt threads actually touch the the wheel itself. These genuine Toyota lock nuts are very well made with the security cookie cutter pattern in the inside of the nut instead of the ribs on the outside of the nut like other types. You can also register your key(in case of loss) and even order a second key with the enclosed order form that comes with the set.

Strangely, the 4 wheel lock set option (as shown in the accessories section of the FJ catalog) which the dealer offered me when I purchased the vehicle cost $65. Don't buy it. Go to the parts dept. and get the part I mentioned above. Then you can sleep in peace knowing all your tires including your spare tire are safe.
