Hi my fJ cruiser did not come stock with the Dash Mounted Temp/Inclinometer/Compass gauge. I bought the part but the dealer could not plug it in because it was missing the plug in harness. My FJ did not come equipped with the harness and the dealer could not order the part. Does any one have an idea how to install it or where could I purchase a Harness.

As far as I understand all it requires is 12V and dash light wire taps + grounds. Accordign to the wire diagram it is not tied to a specific system in the FJ. I hope this helps

My FJ did not come with one either, I have been searching high and low to find one. Where did you get yours, and have you managed to find a harness yet?? Let me know. Thanks

I installed the dashmounted compass a couple of days ago. I did some research and I found the harness Part# 82142-35070 $92.00. I gave the part # to the toyota dealer and they placed the order for it. It took about four days to receive the order. Toyota Of Glendora salesperson "Pete" knows all about the parts you need to order. 909-305-2000 ask for Pete. Excellent Istallation looks original.

I do miss the temp and compass of my previous truck. I, too, am interested in the gauge package.
You mentioned $92 (US) for the harness- what's the cost of the gauge cluster?
For the thermometer: where do they run the sensor to pick up the outside temperature?
I'll likely have little need for the inclinometer, but you never know....

I called my local Toyoa dealership and gave him the part number (82142-35070) for the wiring harness and he said that their diagram shows it being connected from the dash wiring harness to a small computer behind the glovebox. He said that it shows no connection to the gauge cluster. Can you tell me how you hooked yours up or if there is any updated info on this issue.

Also for those asking about the cluster I was given the following info today:

gauges part # 83290-35081
cover part # 83179-35020
mounting bracket part # 83297-35050

I was told all three (3) parts together total $410 us.

If you pull off the cover that goes over the shifter there is a small square and yellow box mounted to the body of the vehicle. Don't quote me exactly but it does say something like "Inclinometer Sensor" with the ability to have something plugged into it. I found this when I was running wires one day and was not specifically looking for this sensor (I do not have the guages either).
