I picked up my new FJ Cruiser this morning, and had a great day driving around in this wonderful vehicle. However, there is a button on the lower dash with a graphic that seems to represent the car and the headliner speakers (I think). This button seems to have no function - I can hit it repeatedly while the radio/CD is on, and there is absolutely no difference in the audio. My window sticker indicated that my FJ has six speakers, with two in the headliner - is this not working, or what?
There is nothing in the owner's manual that addresses this particular button.
I think the button you are refering to is the rear parking sonar button. It has a P/// looks like radio waves coming from it. This button turns on the rear sonar. If that is not it I don't know what it is.

Thanks for the replies, but neither of those suggestions are correct. The "parking sonar" button is adjacent left of the button I'm referring to, and the "subwoofer" buttin is directly above. I'm pretty certain that it has something to do with the speakers in the headliner (based upon the graphic on the button), but punching it has no effect whatsoever.
Again, the graphic depicts an auto with "sound waves" (I guess) emitting from the top center of the car, with "Off" printed below the auto....
Odd - absolutely no explanation in the Owner's Manual - I suppose I'll have to go back to the dealership for some kind of explanation.
Can you take a picture of it for us?
Sounds like the rear diff lock switch or the active traction control.
I have attached a pic of the dash, maybe this will help you tell us what it is.
There is no switch for the speakers in the ceiling that I can find (see attachment)

It's funny, when I my FJ came in I was told it had this feature. When I asked the sales rep about it he said it was installed and ran through it's features. I saw this post and started looking through the literature more closely, as I don't have that button, and it turns out I do not have that feature after all. Investigations are being made, as my invoice does, indeed, say that I have that.
Fascinating. Perhaps the fact that mine was one of the first to arrive locally might explain the salesman's complete lack of knowledge.... or not....
Thanks for the elucidation. I've wondered what all the blank buttons might be for.
It's part of the alarm system. If you leave a dog in the vehicle, press the button and when you lock the sysem, the inside sonar is off. Also it will automatically lock the car after a minute.
