Default Mileage Update at 2000 km

With just over 2000 km on my silver FJ automatic, this is how thirsty it's been in the first month.
All gas so far: 87/regular
For 1832 km, mixed driving, very gentle breakin, and 900 km highway.
$190.13 for 226.54 litres
12.37 L/100km
22.84 mpg Cdn
19.02 mpg US
Best mileage: 24.5 mpg Cdn for 524 km highway, with a medium trailer
Worst mileage: 20.53 mpg Cdn for 208 km town

No sign of any oil consumption yet. When this current tank is low, I'll try a tank of 91 for comparison, next weekend, running to the cottage.
So far I haven't tested the "Low Fuel" warning light. Hoogie said that when his came on, it took 56 L, meaning there were still 16 L remaining, which would give about 130 km range at my overall average of 22.84 mpg.

Default Mileage Update at 3537 km- Automatic Trans.

Just back from a long weekend at the cottage, and filled up tonight with regular at 3537 km.
So far I've run only one tank of Premium, and got 23.38 MPG Canadian for that tank. I see the debate continues about what gas to use in other threads, but my dealer's salesmen ALL recommended using the #87.

This past tank, heading north, was #87, and it was all highway. I also tried to keep my foot out of it as much as possible, (since the speed limit there is 50 mph all the way- up Highways 10 and 6) for the most part exceeding 65 mph only twice. The results were the best I've had to date:
47.312 Litres for 443.4 km = 10.67 L/100 km, or 26.47 MPG Canadian, or 22.04 MPG US.
Several guys have said I won't get my 'good mileage' until at least the 10000-15000 km mark. Next time we make this cottage run I'll use #91, and try the same restrained approach to see what it'll do.

Overall, I'm still loving the FJ!
On good pavement it is the most comfortable vehicle to drive that I've owned in over 25 years. It is very quiet and smooth, and because the highway cruising range is below 2000 rpm up to 70 mph, there's little awarenness of your speed.
It IS susceptible to cross-winds at highway speeds, however. The (stock) night lighting is better than my last Blazer, but I'd like to bump the bulbs up a bit. The brakes are very strong.
There was a hint of snow coming home- I'm looking forward to testing it in the deep snow of the Bruce Peninsula this winter.
In my town there are several FJ's, but all weekend I saw only two- one on the highway, and my silver FJ's mate in Lion's Head.

Default Mileage to 4365 km

I've been running a spreadsheet summary of my fuel costs for the automatic FJ, calculating mileage each time I gas up. For mileage conversions, I've been using this site:
http://www.sciencemadesimple.net/fuel_economy.php

To date, it's cost $450.74 to run 4365 km, using 545.58 litres of fuel, with only one tank being #91, the rest being regular/87.

Around town, mileage has been as low as 17.47 mpg Cdn., but is usually about 20mpg. The best has been 26.47 Mpg Cdn., all highway, driving with restraint, mainly 60 mph or under.

Monday's run of 536 km was on Highway 400, at speeds consistently between 110-130 kph. It gave 24.06 mpg Cdn., or 20.03 mpg US.

Overall, to date, the mileage is 22.62 mpg Cdn./18.84 mpg US. The engine has yet to show any oil consumption, and there has been no pinging etc. with the lower octane gasoline.

How does this compare with other FJ owners?
