Toyota Announces Pricing for Toyota Racing Development Special Edition FJ Cruiser... - Auto News from September 29, 2006
TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today announced manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the Toyota Racing Development (TRD) Special Edition package for the 2007 FJ Cruiser sport utility vehicle (SUV) and 2007 Camry Hybrid.
The TRD Special Edition package adds several exterior performance enhancements to the 2007 FJ Cruiser SUV. Included in the package are TRD/Bilstein off-road tuned, red painted shock absorbers. The special shocks are designed to enhance straight line stability, decrease brake "dive" and acceleration "squat" yaw response, stability and roll feel, body motion characteristics, shock impact and off-road handling. The seamless monotube design provides superior tube strength while maximizing heat dissipation and shock life.
Additionally, TRD has synchronized the locking differential with Active Traction control. The locking rear differential no longer overrides Active Traction control enabling the FJ Cruiser to navigate easier through boulders.
Unique exterior enhancements include an all Black paint scheme with a Black roof and "TRD Special Edition" badges. The Special Edition package will also feature a set of five TRD 16-inch alloy wheels with a gun metal gray painted finish and BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires with wheel locks, TRD performance exhaust and rock rails.

Hopeuflly, they will offer this in another color besides black in the future. I've owned black cars. That was enough work for me. A black truck, especially one taken off road would be too much maintenance for me.
Re: 2007 TRD Special Edition FJ Cruiser Package Announced
Nothing on there you can't do to any other FJ for less $$$
The A-trac can be done for $.10 with some wiring.
The Rims and tires can be done with the TRD wheels available from your dealer $575 and new tires $630 ($1500 installed max)
The Bilstien shocks can be done for $300 installed. And don't I remember the Toyota Bilstiens are weaker than the ones you can get from distributors?
The Paint, eh, I could live without black. Makes me feel better about buying my Voodoo Blue, don't care much for black.
The TRD exhaust can be purchased for $400 and installed for another $100.
Rock rails are a $445 option.
Grand total... ~$3K Everything else is included with the UP package. So you're paying quite a bit just to have them do it for you.
Well, at least they're trying.
Re: 2007 TRD Special Edition FJ Cruiser Package Announced
Would likely be much cheaper to make mods yourself as the low production #'s would mean the dealers want top dollar. However, the advantage of buying the TRD package would be a factory warrenty on all the upgrades.
Re: 2007 TRD Special Edition FJ Cruiser Package Announced
what silvertoy said. went through the exact same thing on my tundra, shouldve bought a base model and saved the money for the proper mods.
save your dough and go with donahoe or sway-a-way coilovers, then get some stickers off ebay...youll pay a third of the price as the dealer package and get three times the performance.
Re: 2007 TRD Special Edition FJ Cruiser Package Announced
Pure marketing, no real beef IMO
