I was happy with my toyota at first, but after driving my boyfriends h3, I think I am going to go see about a trade. The h3 just seems to be something I would like a lot better. The motor in the h3 doesn't have the get up and go that my fj does, but I think it would be much stronger.
I found these videos posted in another forum, thought you would enjoy!!!
Are you kidding? First off, The drivers doesnt appear to know how to nogotiate the course. Second the monkey trying to keep all 4 wheels on the ground is not needed! And finally RESALE VALUE! FJ>H3 Just curious if you ever actually traded in your FJ?
X2 but I'd add that the spotter is perhaps the MOST important. But the driver has to completely put himself in the spotter's hands. And the spotter has to know what's what.
Watch the j**p at Hell's Gate closely. Just before everything turns ugly the spotter is waving him one way and he goes the other.
I'm a newbie in this game and (so far) running a bonestock FJC and I've done things at Tellico and Uwharrie that the built Heeps and Cruisers and Rovers struggled with. I've also done body damage in seconds trying stuff without a spotter that looked easy. And I nearly flopped twice when I didn't react fast enough to instructions.
A good spotter to a wheeler is like a good ATC to a pilot. A bad one is worse than none at all.

IMO, people buy Hummers either because a) they will actually go off road and use it as it was designed to be used or b) they simply want the status to be able to tell all their friends they own a Hummer. I would NEVER, EVER buy any Hummer. Stay with the FJ.
I know I am late, and this is beat to death, but the first video appeared to be instruction to me. The suspension seemed to be flexed to the max intentionally to show a new driver(s) what the FJ can do. As far as a H3, well, suffice it to say this, torsion bar suspension will NEVER equal coils up front, and, the H3 is, in my opinion, recycled GM junk with a little plastic surgery (spray painted chrome of course).
The above pictures are just great, very capable vehicles in pro's hands.
Just because you have an offroad capable vehicle doesn't mean you are a offroad driver.
The Wrangler owns both off-road. And it has a removible roof.
If you dont plan on off-roading, get the H3. If you want to save money and want something faster. Get the FJ
My mother in law has the 06 H3 and that thing is a big slow fat pig.
My wife's FJ destroys it zero to sixty, sixty to zero, turning and comfort.
ONLY reason to get a Hummer is to impress the other fat sun-damaged former beauty queens living off their much older sugar daddy's retirement.
I thought the H3 would be a real off-roader till I read that it was just another GM product built on an existing vehicle . . . the Chevy Trailblazer in the H3's case. The Trailblazer is more of a grocery-getter.
