The local dealer finally got its first Black Cherry FJ in. I looked at it on several passes by the lot today, in full sun: conclusion, it looks awful!
Not a rich dark cherry, more of a dirty brown/red. It looks much better online than in real life. I'm certainly glad I didn't wait for one of those before I ordered! In contrast, down at the Chrysler dealer, the cherry/red Nitro looks stunning!
And if I had the extra dollars to throw around, I'd paint the roof to match my Silver FJ, even though the white top is the least visible on the Titanium.

I looked at it today twice, in lower lighting, and it did look better than previously- not so washed out/brown. But it doesn't have the punch of the blue or yellow, or the class of the silver.

Yesterday we ran north to Huntsville and back in the sunshine. Saw 5 FJ's on the 400- four Cherry, one Black.
And every Cherry looked dirty brownish.
Sorry, that colour doesn't work.
When I fill up later today I'll have my first real idea of mileage at sustained speeds over 60 mph, which I'll post in the other thread.

I like the black cherry color (I know, no accounting for taste )
But that's why they come in more than one color, something for everyone.
Hey, not slamming your taste. You're right- something for everyone!
And on our Monday excursion, 80% of the FJ's we saw were confirming your taste!
On another tack.... I finally ran a board across the roofracks and measured my clearance: 77.75 inches to the top of the bracket, (vs. the 77 inches Toyota claims). And since recent hotels and underground parking have shown 78 inches as their minimum clearance, I'm still staying out on the street. There isn't enough margin of error to make me comfortable. Anyone with experiences?

We're west of Toronto, about 30 minutes, between Brampton and Guelph, north of the 401. A town of 35000, which seems to have about 4 FJ's: our street has two- my Silver, & Hoogie's Black. Even though the dealer has had FJ's rolling through (3 in stock now), I seldom see them in town.
