Question FJ Cruiser Problems with air recycle button - keeps turning off on it's own?

OK, first I am not using the defrost settings ...I know it kicks of the air recycle option. My problem is I will turn the heat on say my feet for example and turn the air to recycly so I don't suck outside exhaust. After just a few minutes the button will go off and I will be getting outside air. I have taken the FJ Cruiser in to my local dealer, who I do trust and has an excellent service department. They did replace the entire module in the dash as it is an all in one type unit. The problem started up again 10 minutes after I picked up my cruiser from the shop. They have no idea and are asking their rep but have yet to hear back....any help would be appreciated.... I guess it could be a secound bad unit if this is a common problem. I am not sure if other owners have this problem and just put up with it or if this is a unique issue with my FJ. Thanks for your help!

this is in your owners manual. It is supposed to do this. There is a "humidity sensor" that will automatically shut off the recirc air if it senses humidity. It help keeps things from fogging up. there is a way to program it so that it doesn't do that...a series of key turns and button pressing. It is also in the owners manual. READ IT, It has much good information.

My God, Fanatic!!!
Are you suggesting that we male readers should READ INSTRUCTIONS??????
This is sacrilege!! And beyond most our capabilities.
Maybe you should have said: "Get your wife to read the owner's manual, and tell you the solution to the problem!"

Red face Re: FJ Cruiser Problems with air recycle button - keeps turning off on it's own?

Well I must admit I did look at the manual when I got my cruiser....but I wanted to blow down the road not read a manual in great detail....I left the manual to my kids (LOL). Any way thanks for the help it was on page 174 of the manual and I will let the dealership know as well. They alrady replaced this unit claiming it was defective.

No problem, glad you figured it out. I can't believe the dealer just went ahead and replaced the unit.....that is kind of funny!
