Forced Induction SystemsDetailed discussions regarding cold-air intake systens, superchargers, turbo chargers, and other induction systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "2007 tundra cold air intake?", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Ok, update. I'm going to go ahead and try the aFe on my truck and see what the results are at the drag strip. Should be here in a few days. I'm also planning on finding access to a dyno after the install and see what the real numbers are. I'll post both the video of the stock run, and then the aFe installed truck and see what kind of numbers I get. I'm hoping for more than what the Volant produced and since they don't publish real dyno numbers (anyone that knows what they look like can tell the one's Volant have are doctored), I'll post those as well as soon as I get them.
I'll also be watching the fuel milage for gains or losses and the noise level. I carry my young newborn and wife around in this truck and if it's to loud, it will have to go even if it does produce good numbers. Stay tuned.

Well, I ordered the Volant because of the advertised HP gain and I wouldn't mind a more aggressive engine sound. Finally, if it's a little less maintenance of the air filter then I'm all for it because I tend to forget some of those regular things. I guess we'll see.

Buy your truck outside of the Gulf States Toyota monopoly if you don't want to compromise.
Has anyone other than Volant actually had their truck dyno tested with and without? The sound alone can play with your mind. They claim 20+ hp gain and even more torque which should definitely be noticeable. I was interested in the Volant for the 5.7 and a dual exhast upgrade but something melow and throaty without drving me nuts with a drone at highway speeds. With all the 5.7 owners out there modifying thier 2007's all over the place I would like to hear something factual rather than hype. I think we are all in the same boat, for $350+ for a cold air intake and $350-600 for Cat-Back TRD dual exhaust. I want to be sure of the results. I am surprized you can return a used cold air intake, any issues with that. I remain very skeptical about the claimed mileage and HP gains quite frankly. I have a lot of confidence in the Toyota engineers and they could design comperable systems for far less money and include it stock. Believe me if they could get another 20hp and or 1-2 mpg out of small mods like this they would do it in a heatbeat. i suspect both are feel good mods that give better sound only.

yea i think so. im happy with better response from the engine. then 20 hp its hard to beleave it.
Does anybody have any other insight other then the TRD website when the TRD CAI is due out?
Mine is coming this week. Ordered it last week. The guy at Toyota told me I was the 1st to get one. They had not received them yet. But I should have it by the end of the week.
I have had "K&N" type intakes. They work, but they work best with aftermarket exhaust systems. The engine is an air pump.. the intake lets more air in, but it has to be able to pump it out faster as well.

I agree that the sound may be playing tricks on peoples’ minds. Because the paperwork and internet advertisements say you get 20+ hp gains, you automatically think it's faster when it's louder. I also agree with HMAN2007TUNDRA, with all of the pickup comparisons that place in the market today, there is no way Toyota would pass up on installing a CAI that would produce an additional 20+ hp and better gas mileage. Just think about the R&D that goes into designing these trucks...
