This is a discussion thread titled "2007 tundra cold air intake?", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I'm not saying it is a bad intake, but doesn't it seem convenient that they gained 19HP to make it an even 400HP.
They don't say it makes 400hp, just that the max gain was 19hp at 3900 rpm... it looks like the gain is lower at the top end and that it probably tops out at 290hp or so (which would be at the wheels).
I have the Airaid intake. Its pretty basic, just a huge filter and a short tube to the throttle body. It has a heat shield which seems like it works pretty well. The only issue I have with it is noise. Its REALLY F-ing loud. I"ll probably replace it with the Volant when the prices come down.

Go to volants web site. Find the intake and when you place the order use the promo code vol18857 in the coupon box. When you enter this code you save 20%. Mine was only $368.00 with ground shipping. Very comparable to others I've found.

Correct me if I am wrong, please. When I got my Tundra I planned to purchase a cold air intake until someone in this forum told me about that extra emissions filter in the air box. Looking into the air box I can see that the intake comes off the wheel well. So unless I am wrong the stock configuration is a cold air intake. Now my plan is to invest in a better air filter from K&N when they decide to get off their rears and put out some products for the 07 Tundra. Maybe I am just naieve on the subject but I dont see the logic in investing $300 into something that is already there. PLease advise.
I was going to do this until 2 weeks ago. I have a 2007 5.7L DC with the TSS package and 20"s in white. Buddy bought one identical except in Red. He bought the Volant and we installed it a few weeks ago. Thought it would be fun to take them up to the local dragstrip and see what they would run. With the Traction off as well as the A/C, both trucks ran almost the same time with his pulling me by 200th's of a sec. Thought maybe it was our driving habits, so we switched vehicles and ran them again. Same result by me beating my own truck by 200th's of a sec, or in other words, a tire length.
It didn't make that much of a diffrence. Wait for the K&N, cheaper atlernative to not much of a gain anyways since the truck already has a cold intake already.
