Forced Induction SystemsDetailed discussions regarding cold-air intake systens, superchargers, turbo chargers, and other induction systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "TRD Dual Exhaust from Dealer...", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I have the TRD duals on my truck and I think the sound is perfect. Good throaty sound, and not in the realm of all the "redneck" trucks around where I live. As far as power, I agree with the above comment, down buy it for the hp increase because really it probably is little if any...5hp max.
I have one as well, but it came on my truck, not sure I would have paid what the dealer was charging for it, if it wasn't already on my truck though. It definately makes it look sharp, and the sound of it is sweet, just a little throaty so that people know you've got something with a little more hp than what they are driving....lol! It still makes me smile everytime i start my car!! Does the motor justice!!
Have TRD duals on my Tundra. Idle and acceleration sounds perfect. Looks really good. Only two complaints about them. Tailpipes seem to bounce quiet a bit on rough spots. Rubber hangers seem rather weak. I think some others have posted about this and I think some minor design changes could cure this. Also there is a pretty loud drone about 1500 to 1800 RPM, just at cruising speed. This may not bother everyone. I contacted TRD and they did not offer any solution for the drone. Only stated if I was not satisfied the dealer would replace the TRD with regular exhaust if I wanted. As others have stated try to drive a Tundra with TRD exhaust if possible. That is a pretty expensive option to be dissatisfied with.

The drone is annoying for sure. I like em because they are not like a teenager with glass packs but have a nice v8 rumble. They could be a bit throatier IMO.

I have the TRD exhaust on my 4 runner, and the letters started to rust through after a year or so because of the stamped metal !!! I was really disappointed with TRD...and the dealership would'nt fix it or replace it.
Dont get me wrong I love TRD, my TRD supercharger on my 4 runner has 170,000 miles on it and will still smoke any Ford-150 on the freeway.
The TRD shocks are made by Bilstien, and are much cheaper direct.
And the TRD headers...don't touch.. mine leaked..and needed much extra main. and tightening$$$$. Thats why Toyota made them already equipped on every Tundra... read the display at the dealership... so people wouldn't mess with them!!!
There are other manf. of cat back exhaust that have DYNO results of 16 to 18 Horse abd 12 torque increase. I just got the GIBSON single exit port, for my 5.7 Tundra and it is awesome. I will post pics and sound soon.
Actually my truck was the test model & template for the Tundra for them, and I got it for free....free ...........SWING!!!!
They specialize in truck only racing performance!! Check out all your options with every manf. of cat back exhaust and look for exhaust results!!!
-goodluck
Looking into the TRD Dual Exaust from the dealer. The tips are kind of oval with "TRD" stamped on them.
2 Dumb Questions:
1. Is it much louder than the stock exaust?
2. Does it increase the horsepower?
Or should I be looking into Borla?
Thanks!
I don't know about any increase in HP ?? But I still love the sound of mine. A little louder than stock in a nice way. Yep, they do drone a little, but that does not bother me.
I like them. .. a lot ..
SOS
PS .. My Toyota dealer gave me 2 options on duals .. TRD (out the sides) or Borla (out the back). I picked the TRDs.

Will post Gibson later this week... the disc they gave with images is in my truck, and the dealer is reapainting the door after some moron saleman scratch my door when I was picking up the car.
Hey CREMAXLOVER... call them and ask, or go to there web site http://www.gibsonperformance.com/
will post a new thread in couple of days with pics and sound!!
I love my Borla. If I'm not mistaken, the TRD has an extra resonator after the muffler? I could be wrong, so someone do correct me.
As for the sound, I love my Borla and wouldn't have it any other way. If you want a soundclip, I started a thread a little while ago after I got it installed.
