Default Borla vs TRD Exhaust

I have done lots of research on a new exhaust for my 2007 Reg Cab SB 5.7 Tundra.

Still have a few doudts which way to move forward, and was hoping for some of your thoughts/help.

Can buy a Borla system for $996.99, or a TRD for $918.50.

Price being about the same, which would you buy, and why?

Thanks in advance for your help guys!

Eric

I would go with the borla. Exhaust does not void warranty so it doesnt matter which one you get. I want borla myself but have not found one for my rcsb. Have you? Any info would help.

i've always heard that the borla exhausts were the best, but they were pricey. i also haven't heard a borla exhaust. but both being the same price i would probably go with the borla just on the name alone, not that trd isn't a well known name on its own. now that being said, i love the way the trd dual exhaust sounds on mine. it came from the factory with it and was one of the reasons i decided to buy my truck.
i'm not big on super loud obnoxious exhausts. especially when i am not going that fast. the trd exhaust have a nice sound on start up, but calm to a low rumble. it may not be for everyone, but i like it. to each their own.

I really like my Borla exhaust. The longer I've had it and now that it's broken in it sounds amazing. My buddy with Borla on his GTO is ecstatic every time he hears it.

Here's a link to my Borla. http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...e-sound-clips/

I have a borla "in the mail". It is the only exhaust that uses 304 grade stainless and I drive some on the beach. I think you often get what you pay for and the better systems are usually not the cheapest.

Get off the warranty angle. An after market exhaust can not and will not void your warranty.

Checked out Sparks thank you. Their TRD kits are more, $925.00 total plus freight.

$605.00 p/n PT400-34071 Dual Exhaust Kit, 5.7L V8/Short Wheel Base
$320.00 p/n PT400-34073 Tail Pipe Kit for Dual Exhaust

Didn't see a Borla system on their site to compare pricing.

So the TRD uses 409-stainless steel, and the Borla 304 grade stainless is the main dif I can see on paper. And 304 being better for a exhaust system, I am leaning towards the Borla.

Can anyone say what the performance dif is between the two?

Thanks once again

No not really, however I have spoke with the factory and they advised one is close to being on the market.

Clearly you have already bought your truck, but for the guys still looking or with trucks on order, I got the factory Borla exhaust and not only does it not void the warranty, but it is included in the factory warranty and was "installed at port" - which is a fancy way of saying that it was done at a place about 30 min away from the dealer, but they did print a new window sticker with it listed as an included option. The sound is awesome and the twin rear exit pipes look great. I'd upload a pic, but the forum doesn't re-scale them to allow them to post.

I really like the way the rear exits look, but I tow a travel trailer and there is now way I am going to listen to that for hundreds of miles. If you plan on towing, you may want to think twice about rear exit pipes.

.

My Toyota dealer said they only install Borla & TRD. I wanted the side exiting duals and picked the TRDs.

Both are excellent exhausts ... but, for my purpose, I went with the TRDs.

FYI Just called back to Borla and Josh said it would now be at least a few months for a SC SB system to be introduced.

Now looking at the TRD compared to the Magnflow #16753 for $395.98 to my door. Both use the 406 SS pipes etc.... but half the price. Anyone care to compare those two?

Thanks once again!

TRD on Sparks site is $915.00 plus shipping, Borla is $781.36 plus shipping. They are listed under the Intake and Exhaust section for the 07 Tundra.
