Forced Induction SystemsDetailed discussions regarding cold-air intake systens, superchargers, turbo chargers, and other induction systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Stock Air Flow Numbers and Mod", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I am not sure what other mods you have, but I am using a K&N filter, I tested the stock type and still had 1/2" of vacuum even after the mod. Also if you haven't cleaned your MAF lately, do it, this will ensure the MAF is seeing all the added air and give the fuel accordingly.
Nice stance with the 38's !
im am running a purolator (i think) filter, flowmaster muffler with duals, and the ASP pulley kit. I've never cleaned my MAF, so its a good idea that i should do it, I'll work on that today!

The flowmaster with duals will scavenge your cylinders a little more causing some vacuum to develop. A standard filter like the purolator will also keep the vacuum up. Try a free flowing filter like a K&N or if you are opposed to that, one of those fram "air hogs" should flow better than the stock style one. The air box mod will have much less impact if there is a filter restriction.
here are some pics of what i did, so far its working well and i am noticing a slight increase in mpg and power, but i would like to do a little bit more driving and testing before i confirm these statements.
Mine looks similar also, except I used two black plastic fittings on the air cleaner and rad support, and the hose is a 2" fiberglass piece normally used in air cleaner snorkel preheater applications. Can't wait to see if it helped ETs.
Soon after I did the mod, one of the other dudes at work couldn't wait to see it. After he had a look, he couldn't resist doing the same to one of the company trucks.
yes, it was like $5 to do it all with pvc fittings, all were 1 1/4". I already had the silicone and the pipe at my house, so that made it even cheaper. Since the pics i have added a mesh screen that goes over the intake part, to keep bugs and larger stuff out.
