This is a discussion thread titled "Doug Thorley 5.7L Headers", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Currently URD is selling the new DT 5.7 Tundra headers for $634. Next week the price will go up to $649.
Here is what we can do for the forum folks, if when you purchase them online at the URD site you can enter coupon code TN57H at checkout you will get them for the current $634 price with FREE SHIPPING to any address in the Continental US.
The coupon will be good for the first 20 customers only then it will automatically expire.
It is a good deal and if you are thinking about getting them you should act swiftly!!
When I installed the TRD rear sway bar on my Tundra, I posted, "it was the best money I have spent on my Tundra".
I was wrong, it was the second best money I have spent on my Tundra, the first place position has been reassigned to Doug Thorley Headers! These things are bad azz! Let me tell you why....
I just went for a 100 mile loop, with a mix of 25 to 35 miles of city driving and the rest on the Interstate. In the city it drove/felt about the same as stock, just cleaner (if you know what I mean), more linear. If you need to gain some more speed it felt like it happened quicker then before. Once I got on the Interstate the clarity of what had changed just kicked me in the teeth! Cruising at 70mph with an open road, I stabbed the go pedal and I was at the speed limiter (110mph) so quick I thought my truck had a mechanical failure. Simply exhilarating!
I don't know how Doug Thorley came up with there dyno sheets without showing big gains from 3000 to red-line? Because there is definitely another engine hiding under the hood!
PS: All the mods I have, are included in my signiture!

95% of dealers will probably void your power-train warrenty.
Not so! At worst, I was told it would void warranty issues from the HEADERS back. Which means, converters and O2 Sensors, for the bang for the buck, I'll take plan A and enjoy my headers dog!
Only if it can be proven that the aftermarket part direclty contributed to the damage..would a CAI be repsonsible ot the cause of the torque converter failing? No..

Get it in writing!!!!
Headers are a very popular mod over at the corvette forum, and unless you have your dealer sell and install them, most guys get voided power-train.
If your engine or tranny blows up with headers, its pretty easy for the dealer to say that the extra HP caused the problem.

I'm glad to hear that you are happy with your headers!! Give it some more time to learn and adjust and it will be even better!

I thought of that! That's exactly why I am keeping my stock headers on the shelf in a plastic wrap all sealed up. If my engine does have a major melt down, I will have the stockers re-installed for it's visit to the Dealer!
PS:Whats up with your signiture. Did a salesman try and beat you into a purchase?

You should install intake/exhaust to multiply the gains, now that your engine can more easily move air. Your restrictions now probably lie at the intake and exhaust side of the engine.

I realize that, but, I went that route on my last truck with a "CIA" and a "Gibson" cat back. The increase in db was not worth the gain in performance. Also, if you look at a dyno chart (most show 12hp gain) of the most popular cat back you may leave with the impression that the stock Tundra exhaust is darn efficient.

Did you have headers on your last truck?

No! NISMO offered them, but I did not see a dyno chart that motivated me to purchase them. The problem with my last truck was ECU. Most vehicles that operate on a fly by wire system, such as the Tundra and the Nissan. Use a pretty responsive ECU that makes it seamless. The Nissan I had always felt like the computer on board was an old 286 machine. Just really slow! If you smashed the pedal, you could count to 3 Mississippi before the truck would move. Because of this reason, I stopped investing in go fast goodies for it, even though STEVE STILLEN came out with a SC for it!
