JBA exhaust installed w/interesting finds
I have a RCSB 4x4. Only additions: spray in liner, westin side steps and now a JBA exhaust.
JBA exhaust installed yesterday. Did not go smoothly on the regular cab like Massive said it would. Price was inexpensive so I got what I paid for in this case. Anyway, the intermediate pipes had to be cut which I was aware of, but then the tailpipes had to be cut and worked with and worked with to get even and to properly align with the hangers. Once that was all on, the exhaust man of 30 years, said I think I could have built you a better system for less.........
Pre JBA numbers. I did two 0-60 runs with the truck the day before, with a stop watch so no the numbers are not perfect but I think fairly accurate when comparing the two since they were within one-half tenth. I then pulled a very long, steep grade in 5th gear and the truck held 60 on the nose at 2200 rpms.
Post JBA numbers. Air temp was within 2 degrees. Put the exact amount of gas back in the truck. Ran the same 0-60 times at the same spots. 0-60 times increased 2 tenths from my slowest time the day before, so my truck was slower with the JBA. It did not have the same low end from a dead start as before. So I started to get nervous about the truck pulling. I headed straight to the same long grade as before and believe it or not the truck topped the hill at 64 in 5th gear. It only increased a few rpms due to the truck picking up speed.
My conclusion: I love the sound except for 1500-1900 rpm range which will take some getting used to because of the low hum. Other than that, it does have a nice aggressive sound. I plan on adding a CAI to help get back some of the low end loss on the truck. Again, it know where near screached the tires like before from a stand still. Definitely lost some bottom end grunt. But still like it.
