bigjokerinthebox66 may have some regrets.
Default Re: Next Air Intakes, which one ya think i could get??

I have the volant on my cm and they sent me the wrong parts kit, so I had to wait a few days, but it was worth it.

I just installed the volant today, sounds awesome, I don't know about the butt-dyno yet because the ECU is still learning to deal with it. The only thing I would say so far that was kind of hokey was the way the box fastens to the inside of the engine bay, it was tough for me to even get it lined up and the screw barely even goes in.

If however I did it wrong (I don't think I did) somebody let me know please!

I just installed the AFE, sounds great, and you can hear the air whistling, unable to verify horse power gain, however throttle feels more responsive. The main concern i had with conventional filters with oil application after cleaning the filter, was that the sensors are likely to be clogged by oil residue and stealer ship refuse the repair under warranty. (Precious experience).

TRD CAI---carb approved. No problems when you get around to smogging the truck. Also looks great, easy install, pulls air from stock location in fender well, seat of the pants dyno says whoa! and sounds bitchin'

who cares when it comes to smog time...throw the stock airbox back on in 15 minutes and an hour later you can put any other one back on...

Ditto!!!
Just installed it this morning! Very easy. Looks like it belongs there
Took the truck for a spin and I will not trade TRD CAI for a different one!

Volant looks cool too Volant Cold Air Intake Toyota Tundra Product Review with Video and Sound | tundraheadquarters.com and you do not have to cut engine cover like with TRD.

Looking at either AFE or TRD, but someone here posted installation instructions on the TRD and looks like you have to cut the engine cover, which I'd rather NOT do.

Thanks.

I'm leading towards the Volant or.........maybe TRD...my previous '06 Tundra had Volant intake and it was great!!..looks like Volant is winnin so far...I don't like the way you have to cut parts of your truck to just install another square box with TRD logo on it...plus Volant makes more HP over the TRD...
