I'm leading towards the Volant or.........maybe TRD...my previous '06 Tundra had Volant intake and it was great!!..looks like Volant is winnin so far...I don't like the way you have to cut parts of your truck to just install another square box with TRD logo on it...plus Volant makes more HP over the TRD...

i was at the dealer yesterday, they have a performance parts counter and the guy tells me that the AFE ( i think that is what he said ) actually makes the TRD one... I would rank the AFE higher then...

I prefer a little lowder open box and the airraid looks like it has a WAY better fit then the K&N .

I think i will get the airraid personally.

I received my Volant yesterday. It looks very well made and the filter is HUGE. Its the biggest damn intake I have ever seen. It seems like it should flow better than stock. I currently have an AFE drop-in and removed charcoal filter and that setup definitely made a difference, so I expect even better gains from the Volant. Another plus with the Volant is the dry filter. Not having to worry about re-oiling is and advantage. Other companies like AFE and AEM offer dry filters as well, but they make slightly less power. The only problem I have with the K&N and AirRaid is the lack of an enclosed box. The heatshields don't seem to completely seal it off from the engine bay. I would rank the intakes as follows:
1. Volant
2. AFE
3. TRD
4. K&N
5. AirRaid
6. Stock box w/ drop-in

Volant also makes ram air scoops for some of their intakes. This may be a future option for the Tundra as well.

I'm waiting for my TRD CAI to come from Sparks. Anyone with the TRD care to comment about how it changes the sound? My truck is otherwise stock.

Which brand should you go with in the 4.7 like I have. I had a K&N on my 06 Tacoma and I liked the sound it gave. I didn't notice much more sound from the video demonstration. ANy Ideas?? I know k&n already has theres available for the 4.7. It sounds like it is between the Volant, k&n, trd one??

Well TRD CAI has lost the buy to Volant.. I've just purchased Volant for $369 free shippin...It won't be able to ship out till the end of the next week (Backorder) which is fine cause I'll be out of town all next week for da Holidays anyways... when I come back I should've racked up over 1,000 miles on my odo...so it kinda works out tho...so anyone else is happy with their Volant?

Happy Holidays!!

I've had K&Ns before... but open box intake sucks they draw more heat and dirt than an enclosed intakes plus oily filters are not good for the engine...so Volant or TRD CAIs are a way to go for me...but you get what you pay for right?

I agree, but Ive always been satisfied with the KNs I had in the past. The AFE is a closed box too.

Truth be known, they all make about the same horsepower. From what I have seen, the more money you spend = more hp on this site. But go with what floats your boat. After all you are spending the money for it.

Adding an intake won't add much.If you pay attention to the intake flow and design compared with an aftermarket one, there really isn't a difference.Last time I checked, that didn't add any power. You maybe see 2-3 max just because of the better filter these kits come with.

Also in regard to the 8-12 rhwp gain,ALL AFTERMARKET COMPANIES print out their horsepower gains AFTER a dyno tune.So that number you are seeing is the intake installed w/ a dyno tune, hence "dyno tested".

There isn't a "tune" for the 5.7 Tundra. The people selling the after market stuff is marketing the hell out of their products here. They are not exactly honest in all their tactics. Plus you will be glad to know they are over charging the heck out of you for their products, yet making you feel good about the price. They are good.
