Re: Next Air Intakes, which one ya think i could get??
I just threw in the less restrictive trd filter-noticed gains right off the bat, and lets You know its less restrictive 'cause at certain throttle you can hear the intake whistling. If you're talking about changing the whole intake, I've got no advice on that.
Re: Next Air Intakes, which one ya think i could get??
what about AEM Brute Force Intake ??AEM claims dyno-testing of the Brute Force air intake system on the 2007 Toyota Tundra 5.7-liter V8 produced an average increase of 8-12 horsepower at the rear wheels.

Re: Next Air Intakes, which one ya think i could get??
So, someone explain to me what's the advantage of an aftermarket CAI on the 5.7 Tundra.
I know that the aftermarket air filter element will flow at a higher rate (more dirt also) than the factory paper element, and that's good. But......how can an aftermarket plastic box and tube be better than the stock box and tube, especially if the tube is metal/chrome plated (just heats the incoming air more)? Isn't virtually all of the air flow increase due to the aftermarket filter element? Wouldn't a $50-60 aftermarket cotton/gauze filter element in the stock box do the same thing as a $350-400 aftermarket plastic box and tube? Someone explain it to me and I apologize for hi-jacking the thread.

Re: Next Air Intakes, which one ya think i could get??
I'm getting a TrueFlow (High Efficiency) replacement drop-in that has a 1,000,000 mile warranty and filters 10x better than ANY gauze filter (K&N, AFE, Airraid) I've ever had. Your oil will stay ALOT cleaner for much longer, especially if you go off-road or operate in dusty environments.
To help the air flow smoother, I'm waiting for Airraid to release their modular intake tube for the OEM box, which replaces the inefficient baffled OEM tube. This will be just as effective as any K&N,Volant,TRD, or Airraid setup out there for about $120, instead of over $500 for something like the Volant or TRD.
HOWEVER, to get the FULL benefits from an intake, you need to have a freer flowing exhaust or cat-back system or else it's a waste of time.
