Default Are Airaid and Volant the only ones with plastic intake tube?

I know K&N has metal intake tube and possibly AEM. I am leaning towards Airaid at this time for 289.99, free shipping and free throttle body spacer. (not that a TB spacer does anything)

I installed my Airaid last week and I was very impressed with the fit/finish of the intake. Sent in the rebate form for the TB spacer..It will add some color!

you cant see the TBS with the engine cover on. i am going to dynamat around the heat shield because the airaid is so loud. The TSB does whistle but i have not noticed any gains in power or mpg.

To be honest, I probably would not even put the spacer on. I had on on my last truck. If there were any power gains, I'm sure they were fictional at best. So it whistles? Hopefully it can carry a tune. So the airaid is loud huh? As in air sucking or 4-barrel sounding loud?

If I could get one for around 300.00, I would definately get one.

I did a search but came up with nothing. As anyone recorded power gains between just adding filter vs CAI? I would think the filter would be worth at least half the gains by itself, but that is just my theory.

Really? All the pics show plastic. I did not list it initially because it costs to much. I am not rich like the other guys on here.

airaid is loud from the intake not air sucking. i think 4 barrel loud as i am totally fam w/ that. lets not kid ourselves, it a filter on a stick. one good thing that this has is a good seal with the hood. it took me a half hour to put on. gains are noticeable by the seat of the pants. i am putting dynamat on it because the noise is annoying while towing. normal highway driving is almost as quiet as stock. i am sure i drive it harder that i did before so no mpg gains or loses for that matter. i was going to go after the volant but didn't want to buy a filter that stock gm's use. K&N use metal intake tube, not for me. TRD seemed conservative, also not for me. i wanted this thing the breathe!

Thanks, I am trying to stay away from metal tubes. They hold heat to long.

You might want to check yours again it is plastic. I have installed about 3 of them. Unless you have a different one. I am talking about the TRD one.

My bad you guys are right I had to go out and take mine off and look at it. It really looks like moulded plastic from the outside. When you look at it from the inside you can see where it was welded. Sorry and thanks for teaching me something
