This is a discussion thread titled "Cold Air Intake 2007 Tundra", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Any recommendations on a cold air intake kit? I was going to use the new Volant kit but was looking for advice as this is my first Tundra. 4x4 double cab 5.7 much better than my f-150 4x4, 5.4 super crew.

Go with the AIRAID System, much better system and they have customer service to back up the product unlike volant who has ZERO customer service and they are proud of that.
The only reason volant products cost alot is because they do very small production runs instead of large productions runs like a real manufactuer.

I have a volant and I really like it I got it new for somewere around like 370ish but I paid 325 for one on my grand cherokee and it was kn it definitly was louder. I don't think it's all that outrageous of a price I also have zoomers exhaust and the two together are incredible.
Its a pretty expensive "butt dyno" mod
The truck cant use all the air from the stock air intake so why waste the money ?Do a Forum Search and if you pay attention to the data in the post you'll see CAI's are pretty expensive plastic buckets

Volant CAI all the way buddy...You get what you pay for...At least it don't draw hot air and get soggy wet on open filters like K&N and Airad when drivin in rain...and don't have to be paranoid to not over oil the K&N Filter to mess up your map sensor and throttle body...Volant CAI no need to maintain your filter with oil crap...you want to be cheap buy cheap CAIs...you get what you pay for...

You do get what you pay for, and you paid for the worst product on the market for the tundra.
Volant has the worst customer service on the planet and they use the cheapest materials they can find as well.
Keep living in your delusional world.
I bet the install instructions are top notch as well.
You paid way too much because they do small production runs. Plain and simple and if you think otherwise, well your sadly mistaken.

blah...blah..chill buddy you sound delusional..I've never had bad customer service with Volant cause I bought it at the my performance shop so didn't have to deal with it...K&N don't get me wrong isn't bad just an exposed CAI..and I don't like an open box...I have had open CAIs on my '03 Tundra and HKS on my Supra and liked it..more sound cause its open..the install on Volant wasn't that complicated it was easy..takes patience buddy...

DON'T GET A K&N! They are very bad for you're engine. The K&N do flow alot more air than stock but they flow alot more dirt too. I had an AEM Brute force on my 05 Silverado and was very impressed. It is an open type so it as loud as the K&N but it uses a much better dry filter that flows just as well but lets alot less crap into your' motor. I'm not saying that the AEM is better than the Volant or AFE but I do think its close to as good and its over $100 cheaper ($270 shipped). Or this might just make you want to keep your' stock one. Aftermarket Air Intakes/Filters - Do They Work? - Diesel Place Just my .02.

Once it all shakes out you CAI Fans still have a plastic bucket under your hood !
Once you apply simple fact supported logic to your "advertised" CAI HP gains your left with little more then 2-3 real time rwhp.
$150+ per usable HP is what ?You gained how much over stock ? ..........and now you wanna brag about it on a forum thinking nobody is the wiser ?
