I installed a TRD CAI a couple days ago. Noticed a "little" more engine sound. At take off its about the same but after about 30mph she really starts to pull a lot harder than before. Seems to me likespeedometer just fliesup to 80mph. Just a seat of the pants not on a dyno but I sure like it.

Ahhhhh, the good old days

I used to run an open element in the summer on my 64 f100 with cammed 460 and 800cfm carb. You really knew it when those secondaries opened up

Hey Bill why did you choose the Airraid? I thought you were all for the closed box setups before?

as for your problem I think its a air to fuel ratio that will fix itself shortly when the computer learns your new bolt on. If thats not the case at least your brain will have forgotten how your truck ran when you had the stock setup

it was good for the price and I read lots of good things about it. It looks pimp and sure sounds mean. I like the sound. It really does sound like I have exhaust now

Ditto to all above, computer resets after a few hundred miles and will re-learn the F/A ratios. You should have tried to drive my 4Runner after the major S/C upgrade! It drove like a sick lawnmower for about 150 miles, even with all the tuning. Then it settled in and we were able to super tune everything.
It will work itself out.
As for "sounding like I have an exhaust".....GET ONE!!!

dude i have the airaid and i had to dynomat the area around it because of the noise when towing...it helps but its still loud. then i added the borla and it gave the setup the breathing room it needed....now i ease into it (as always) and still can't keep the wheels from spinning at the top of first gear when she's pegged. just hold the traction button down when stopped for like 3-5 sec and launch away. btw no increases to mpg...i don't drive like my right foot is broken.

Question Re: Airaid installed! *PICS*

Is there any difference between the Airaid, K&N and the TRD CAI? I look at the TRD one on the SparksTRD website...any advice would help.

Thanks

1st impressions are this thing sounds like a freaking beast. Sound like a muscle car now. Sounds like I have an exhaust system

I took her for a spin but to be honest for some reason it feels like the truck is slower like its sluggish for some reason. Almost like the truck is hesitating. Im hoping it just has to learn the new system..It sounds great though. Ill get some miles on it and report back. Anyne else have this feeling with there intakes 1st installed...I checked everything and everything seems to be installed correctly

Nice install bill, Looks good.

No worries, just drive the truck, after you put some miles on it, the computer will adjust and all will be good.

The Weather seal on top of the box will seal off the intake when the hood is closed. Kinda the same concept with the weather strip around the door. It seals everything in.

Thanks

The biggest difference will be the quality of the components, and the air filter.

K&N air filters are garbage, one of the worst filters made for filtering out dirt and debris. K&N is using 15 year old filter technology. don't be fooled by the name.

AIRAID makes a much nicer filter, and the quality of the kit is second to none.

I have not personally seen the TRD kit, and not sure who is building it for TRD, or who is supplying the filters.

For the $$$$ the AIRAID is the best way to go, and they offer the best warranty out of any aftermarket company in the industry.

it seems like its starting to run a little better now but still seems to take alittle longer to downshift and find shift points
