Default 5.7 guys-dont hate us...4.7 air intake?

i know most of these posts are from the monster motor'd trucks but i know several of us have the 4.7 and are quite happy with it. question is, does anyone have a 4.7 aftermarket intake for this truck?

Cold air intakes for the 4.7 are made by K&N according to their website and TRD also makes a system. Not sure about anyone else.

K&N car, truck, SUV, motorcycle, atv, personal watercraft, etc. filter application search

I agree...Get a K&N...Not too expensive and great performance and sound!

You should really consider how you use your truck before using any of these products. K&N Filters flow more air than a typical stock filter because they filter out fewer particles. This is Ok for a racing application where the duration of use is somewhat limited. If you use your truck off-road in dusty conditions I would not use any of these products. You are putting more dirt in your engine versus stock.

Toyota spends billions of dollars each year on engine research. Far more then K&N and others combined. If these products were better for most owners, Toyota would be using them.

A few of the manufacturers that I carry are working on one and there should be a few choices available in the next month or so

Understandably toyota spends alot of money on their engine research every year, but they also have a raceing devision and sell aftermarket parts. If i were you i would buy the TRD parts. they arent going to give you a car that runs at 100% efficency(you would have people blowing up camrys left and right) people can knock them or whatever but they are designed by toyota and i think they know what they are doing. most vehicles operate at around 79-82% power eficency so they hold up longer but still have good power. most of the missing power can be put back by tuning the fuel and timing tables. Exhaust systems have more time spent on them than anything in order to keep noise down but still flow good. Personally unless you do something to the vavletrain on increase cubic inches its a deadend street. But intakes are extremely restrictive in order to keep noise down you can get power from them.

Improving systems that are in place will bring out hidden power. only when you change parts like cams intake manifolds ect. will you MAKE more power. I think with a proper tune and a less restrictive intake the 5.7 could make 400hp and the tuning would still be fairly mild. the 4.7 could make about 290

K&N filters out less dirt particles than a stock paper filter? Than why do they use a cotton oiled washable filter in their trd intake? Why do desert racing teams use K&N products? I have used K&N filter for more miles than most people drive in 25 years (at the 12k average) and have never had a filtering problem with K&N. Trd parts are nice but they cost more than they are worth. The trd parts are not even made by toyota their made for toyota and their hp gains for the dollar are ridiculous really 6-8 hp for their intake and it's almost $400 give me a break. Also in reference to the previous post that exhaust systems cannot make power is false you have to realize the truck was designed around a robot that puts it together. Yes the exhausts on todays cars are freer flowing but they are by no means optimized for performance.

Not all Cotton Gauze filters are created equal.

K&N uses 15yr old filter technology. They are one of the worst on the market. People buy them because they are not familiar with other brands and because K&N has been around for so long.

do some research and you will see all the horror storys with K&N filters.

hi, i have a 4.7, and i have a few mod's i have 326Hp engine. dyno'ed.
and
with a custom unchip tune on a dyno, i can get another 20 horse's.that would be close to
350HP. not to bad.
except i need the limitors removed to get to the peak's: of HP & TORQUE.

i can imagine the peak's of a trd supercharged ,chiped, cai, cat back exhaust, headers, etc.
& a custom tune on the dyno. i'd bet you might reach 575engine HP. with all the nanny's off and all the limitor's disabled.
in time, we might see some one reach this # on a dyno. rear wheel 475Hp.
i'd love to see that.
the down side is if dodge ever put's there new srt10 600hp in there truck, or if chevy ever put's there 625 vette eninge in there truck. well we might still come up short.
