Default Cool Air Intake

What are the main benefits of agging a cool air intake? Anyone have opinions on the TRD CAI,and how much did they spend on the TRD CAI?

Just added the TRD CAI. I've always done this to my trucks because it makes the engine feel like its running better or smoother. Definitly feels like it has more hp, but thats with my Butt dyno. The TRD comes with great fit and finish, like its oem and great directions. I've had Volant in the pass and it was great too, but I like the TRD better.

Check with Sparks toyota, they have free shipping and great customer service.

i wouldnt call the trd cai a great fit if you have to cut your engine cover to get it to fit. i think it the best looking cai, but you would think they could have done a better job than that

Now you do not have to cut it. Comes with spacers from TRD!
Great CAI. Would do it again even if I have to cut the engine cover. Got for $369 shipped 4 month ago.

I paid 375 for the trd. I usually shop on line for the best price and then go to my dealer and they'll discount their parts 20% or so to meet or beat any pricing I got online. I wanted a closed system and did not trust the volant because of all the poor fender fit postings that were made. I would rather do some minor triming on the engine cover than have a system that did not fit the fender well. Install was a breeze with excellent instructions. Same with the sway bar.

The original factory installed unit IS a cold/cool air intake. Some think it can be improved upon, some think it works fine as is.

That's very debatable.

I can't tell cause I can't control my right foot.
But, if it does, it isn't a hell of a lot of help.

Don't know yet. I reset my cpu at the sametime, so I'm driving with a light foot right now.

I'm in the same boat. Did the CAI and Corsa so close together that I'm on the same tank of gas. I have taken it easy on this tank to get a feel for mpg but decided Sunday to remove the dash panel and silicone the seat belt buzzer ( I wear my belt but hate that buzzer ) and it reset the the info center when I unplugged the dash switches. So now I'm on a new tank this week. Hard to be patient when it sounds this good.

My Volant should be landing today, and the Zoomer's isn't far behind. I wish I had the patience to install one, drive for a month, to check the benefits by itself, then install the other. But I don't. Both should be on this weekend. I'll post an update in a new thread after I get a tank or 2 though (usually about a week)

Still to Come: Headers? Speaker/Sub upgrades? What else? Supercharger........? I'm sure I'll think of something.

I've had mine about 3 months now. I enjoy the sound and the look. As for performance, It will always be greatly debated as to it's value. Toyota has done a terrific job with the stock intake and exhaust. I have replaced both, but not out of necessity. I just enjoy the sound and the notion...
It all depends on your sense of value, look and feel, and mostly... budget.
Just my $.02
