Default True Flow CAI for 07+ Tundras

I was in a shop today and was told that True Flow has come out with a CAI for our Tundras. Its the XDI CAI and the part number is 40705, I was quoted a price of $329.99

Apparantly they just released it last week and its not stocked yet. Here is a link to what it should look like
True Flow Performance Filters, Cold Air Intakes, XDI Air Intakes, Air Intake Systems

I have heard good things about True Flow, does anybody here have experience with them?

I have never been a fan of the foam style of air cleaners. They don't seem to trap as much dirt, and over time, they tend to break down and degrade (come apart). YMMV, and I am sure that not all foam filters are created equal. I am a bigger fan of the new synthetic fabric style (to replace the K&N style cotton pleated filters). But I am no expert and make no factual claims. My 2 cents.

I just installed the XDI on my 08 Tundra. The guy at the shop said I was the first one in North America to get one (XDI is based in Phoenix). My first impressions are: 1) it is not a true CAI because there is about 3 inches between the intake and the hole in the fender. 2) it is hella loud!! 3) the aluminum pipe while being very smooth inside got super hot my first run out so basically you are heating your not so cold air with the pipe. I can't really tell if it is faster or not. The loud sound with my TRD dual exhaust makes it "feel" fast. It will probably take some time for the ECM to settle in. As far as foam goes, it is the best filter you can buy for reducing garbage into your engine. It beats paper and guaze hands down. That is why the professionals run them off road. Go to True flow's website and watch their video demo. I have seen it in person and it is impressive how much better it filters than the factory paper element and the KN guaze filter. So even if it isn't gaining me anything, I think the better filtration is worth it.

Thanks for the response. Do you think its worth it or would the filter in the stock box be just as good? Do you have any pics?

Too late on pics. I am ripping it out. It may be the best filter but it is just too loud for me... might have been cool 20 years ago. Now I am trying to decide to go with the Volant or TRD CAI!!!!

On this motor they all make it louder. True flow is top notch. Check out what the vehicles that run in the dirtiest and dustiest locations and you will find foam filters. All dirt bikes and quads come stock with a foam filter and they are right in the dirt every time they run. Also the score and baja guys will run foam more often than not. They flow the most amount of air and filter the most garbage out of the air.

I am hoping they come out with a drop in filter for the stock air box. this is what I ran in my previous tundra and worked great. I have an Airaid now and it is loud as hell, I would rather have a trueflow drop in and call it a day.
