Default TRD Dual Exhaust w/o CAI???.....

Is it worth putting a TRD dual exhaust on my Tundra without a CAI ? I can't afford both (right now) and I found a pretty good deal on the TRD duals...what do you guys think? Will I still gain the same sound improvement??

Thoughts??

Got for it, it's that what you want to do...
I ran the TRD Duals for about 9 months before I added the TRD CAI.

Just exhaust http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...h-sound-clips/

With both TRD CAI and TRD Dual Exhaust Sound and Video Clips

Just prepare yourself for a bunch of people to try and talk you out of it. Those of us that have it, love it. Yeah, we paid more, but in my opinion, we got more. There are a couple aftermarket systems I would consider as well, but just a couple.
That's just MY opinion and we all know what opinion's are like...

yeah, I am set on ther TRD system...want to keep my truck as close to OEM as possible....for whatever that is worth.

Just trying to decide if it is worth doing the duals without the CAI.

I want to get both...and hopefully will at some point....I guess what I am asking is will the exhaust alone provide any benefit, sound or otherwise?

the sound of the TRD is nice if you can justify the cost.... so i say go for it. with or without the CAI... then a little down the road, get the CAI i say.

the other exhaust i would spend money on is a corsa.

benefit: better sound. probably a slight improvement in mileage and hp... but don't expect a lot out of it.

also, if Toyota says that your exhaust system caused a fault and voided your warranty, they would not be able to say that with a TRD... but might with a different brand... there is a slight edge there.

Eh from what I've seen and heard they are just for looks and the fact that you have a TRD part. Other than that your just paying for the name IMO. I've heard it at my dealer on a couple trucks.

I had the dealer throw in the TRD dual exhaust to sweeten the deal. I had the truck for about a week before it was installed. Definitely like the sound and the engine seemed to wind up a little more readily. I still have a few other mods I'm going to do before I spring for the CAI

It will be fine. It'll sound better w/ a CAI but it's not like it's going to sound bad w/out it. Should still sound great.

Does the OP's original question apply to only 2nd gens or 1st gens as well?

The Gen 1 TRD gives no significant performance improvement and is only slightly louder than stock.

I had both installed at the same time. If I had to make a choice, I would have done the TRD dual exhaust first. You will hear a sweet sound when you turn the key. I've had the system on for about 4 months now and I still love to hear the sound.

Borla is another option for you. It is a little less expensive and has dual rear exit. The TRD exits behind the rear tires. Borla makes the TRD dual exhaust.

Last suggestion...There are many of us who have retained the stock muffler and exhaust pipe after our dual exhaust install. You could aquire a stock set up and have a muffler shop make you a custom "OEM" exhaust system.
