Default TRD CAI with the spacers installed. Not a big fan (Pics)

I installed the TRD CAI with the spacers to move the engine cover up so you don't have to cut it.

It looks ok from the front, but on the sides it's horrible. I think I'm going to cut the engine cover.

My other dislike is the filter sensor. I want to fill the hole with a simple black plug. Has anyone found anything good to put in here?

Thoughts?

As for performance, I can't tell yet. The truck only has 800 miles on it so I'm not hammering it yet. It does sound really nice!!!

Yeah, it does look a little off on the drivers side especially.
Mine is cut, use a piece of black trim along the cut edge and it makes it look pretty good.
Honestly, don't know what I like better, cut or spaced?

As far as a plug for the "time to clean me gauge", you can probably find a small black rubber stopper (cork), the kind the use in the medical field for samples and such.
I think I've even seen them in auto parts stores for blocking off hoses and lines.

Given the appearance on the driver's side, I would be tempted to leave the cover off completely. Is there any danger to this?

Noticed that you have some sort of "foam" around the top of the engine. Is that suppose to be there? Mine doesnt have it. Anybody know if its a big deal if its missing??

Thanks

That is either to reduce induction noise, or maybe keep a little of the underhood heat from getting to the intake air stream?

After looking at that.....maybe TRD should provide a modified cover with the kit instead of instructions to cut or raise the existing.

who cares. Its not like you drive around with the hood up. Im sure if your lifted the hood someones going to say. Nice truck but theres a gap on the drivers side intake cover! lol! Its not causing a leak. Not a big deal. IMO

I agree. It kind of sits too high. I actually like the cut out look better.

You still have that option though

I am getting the CAI next month to go with my TRD exhaust, I agree that it does not look as good as cutting it, but it's not too bad, the only people looking under my hood is the dealer and me.
I will get the dealer to Install mine for warranty purposes and will go with the spacers.
I am not installing for looks anyway.

Yes, it's supposed to be there. It's like that from the factory. I'm not sure what it's for. My only guess is sound deadening or thermal insulation...

Got me!
