Three years, five months and 32,500 miles after the supercharger install I replaced the originals today with more of the same. Every one of the plugs were at 'zero torque' ie., every one of them was loose! I think a re-torque after a few miles and hot/cold cycles is a must! Note the "mushroom" shape of the center electrode and the "ideal color of toasty brown" on ceramic center.......Very even cylinder to cylinder. No particular plug stood out in color or wear. A few more pics in My Albums, just click on camera icon ubove.
One of those plugs looked really oily on the outside? guess probably cause you said they were not tight? Great looking Truck with some nice looking mods! BRAVO!!
Thank you, and on closer inspection you are correct! That was number 3 on the right bank. The discoloration is probably blow-by as there is no oil or burnt residue on the threads, just darkened and dry. When extracting them I could tell the tech probably didn't use any anti-seeze as they 'grabbed' and 'chattered' while turning all the way out.....Sure enough, no evidence of anything on the threads. How about some more close-ups:
Really nice ALBUMN ya got! So how many miles can ya get on a set with your setup? Does your truck have the speed nanny on it? 06's have them cause of tire ratings! I use only a small stripe of the stuff when i install plugs and cut torque to about 6 ftlb! I do not like it all goobered up at bottom of hole! My 93 has an accumulation down near holes and i have been trying to figure how to clean it but not too big a deal! I do 30K intervals on my 3.0 V6 plugs!
Some say these are good for 100,000. After examination with a 12X loupe of new verses old, I'd call that a stretch. The tips have melted at 32,000+ miles into a neat little ball. Yes, TRD ECU w/single 9th injector non VVTI--2002........Nanny firmly embedded.
I will do mine at 50K and i am not running the same plug but they are Iridiums and i feel any longer will be a stretch myself! Will also be doing Coolant and ATF for same reason around same 50K time frame! cause i can

The IK22 are 30k plugs. They are performance plugs and not made to last 100k like other iridium plugs. You can check the specs on sparlplugs.com.

Part number PTR24-34050 is what I used for a set of 4 plugs. I later found them $2 cheaper each at URD ($9.75 each). Sorry I did not see your post earlier
