Just bringing up the topic again for the 1G 4.7 Tundras. Anything in the marketplace, proven, that gives options to play with a turbo or supercharger?
What I have seen:
URD has no package for the First Gens.
STS Turbo has a "universal" package, but, no specific package.
BoostedTundras got off the ground, but, shutdown due to issues.
TRD unit not sitting on any shelfs. Long story and history on this.
I am still looking for a TRD unit, just no luck yet, unless there is a better option on the market. I know, keep an eye on ebay. I hope to find one tucked away somewhere.
Anyone know? Thanks.

This is an old link, and you'll notice all of the links on the page are broken or go straight to STS's home page. They do not manufacture the Tundra kit any more to my knowledge. I am a lucky one to have purchased a 'lightly' used kit for much less than retail, I just have not had the time to get it installed and tuned.
Everything I have heard is that it's a kick in the pants and much less parasitic drag than the TRD supercharger.
Any other STS users out there want to chime in?
The supercharged application had it's advantages and drawbacks, just as the STS kit will, too. I know I read up on the TRD Eaton blower setup and the main problem seemed to be the piggyback ECU cutting boost at shift points to save the transmission. Many people chose to get around this with a custom tune on their Unichip, and upgrade their transmission with the IPT valve body modification to safeguard against any malfunction there.

Which unit do you have? The -401 or the -601 SC. Makes a difference.

I was surprised the STS kit kicked out as a specific kit. I know they make a universal kit, but, I need to research what it can actually do.
As far as the TRD kit, very well aware of the pros and cons. Have followed my friends that have the SC from the First Gens and the need for ECU upgrade and the IPT tranny upgrade. Heck, if you follow the story well, the rods need to be replaced. Not looking for the fastest 1G, just looking to finish a project Toy. Open to options if I can find the right setup. Almost had this done in 2006 but ebay seller screwed up. Documented here on TS in another thread.
So, still open, willing to talk, and still looking.

how do you tell what model 401 or 601 it is? i believe i remember it being a second model for the 4.7 but if you tell me what to look for that will tell me i will go and see. i also have a URD timing and fuel control unit i could sell with it. the supercharger has the 10th injector kit not 9.

I actually picked up an sts kit that has been redone and is ready to put on my truck. If you have seen the show PINKS, the main technical director Charles Hendrickson is actually doin it for me, im actually takin it in for surgery next week, or the week after, I'll let you know how I like it. I am freakin excited though

Cool. What does redone mean? Did you have it upgraded or modified just for the Tundra? Good luck. Looking forward to hearing how your project goes!!
