Default TRD S/C in 2001 Tacaoma

Good lord, I can't ever spell Tacoma right. Sorry.

Guys (and girls), if this has been posted before, then please accept my apology for wasting bandwidth.

My everyday driver is a 2001 DC Prerunner 3.4V6. The truck has 175K miles on it and runs great. I switched to full synthetic around 75K and have changed it every 3K. The only problems with the truck were a power steering pump failure at 37K and an issue with the transmission that was solved by a flush. I wouldn't hesitate to drive cross country right now in this truck.

I've read both Gadget's website and a guy with Project Sportrunner (Project SportRunner) regarding similar year models.

What is everyone's take on adding the TRD S/C to an older truck? From stock, I can tell the engine has lost power. Would a compression test be worthwhile in making this decision?

Thanks for your input.

I would absolutely do a compression test before adding a supercharger to your truck. I had a 2001 extended cab and installed a supercharger with Gadget's kit at about 22K miles. I ended up selling the truck with 160K miles on it to purchase my Tundra. I miss that truck!
