Well I finally have the latest revision of my ram air intake scoop fabricated and hope to have it installed on the truck late tonight. This version incorporates a design change that was suggested by Boosted27606 which has proved to be very effective. The old scoop had a boxed back wall and this latest revision has a curved floor to smooth out the transition of the air flow from horizontal to the vertical uptake tube that feeds through the fender well to the air box.
Here are a few pictures and I will post back with the results in a week or two.

Hey Thanks guys. We did not get it installed last night. Welding on the trailer ate up my allotted time so I am scheduled back in tonight. Getting the mounting bracket unbolted will take some time and then I need to take a cut-off wheel to the old scoop so I can reuse the mounting bracket. If all goes well I should be able to post pictures of the install sometime tomorrow evening.
I am looking forward to how this works out compared to the original scoop.

Very slick. Please paint this one.
Keep us updated!
Hey Tundradrenalin!!
Thanks for the compliment. No painting as this one is stainless steel too. Paint does not bond to stainless very well under ideal conditions and this being exposed to some serious friction (air flow) would lead to pealing very quickly.
At any rate I am not out mowing today so I am finishing up the trailer and then going to tackle getting the old scoop off the truck. I may not be able to get it off of there as the bolts I used were not metric so they may be unwilling to cooperate. I have not been able to find the metric bolt size for the mounting location I have been using.

Quick update: the guy who does my tigging forgot to come in so we had to reschedule for next week. I am anxious to get this done and see the results.

Tentatively scheduled in for Monday night to do some welding and hope to get the new mounting bracket fabricated and the new scoop tigged to the bracket. Replaced the passenger manifold O2 and while I had the wheel off I took a picture of the hose that is routed through the fender line from the present scoop to the air box.
