Default 05 Taco exhaust question...(specific)

What I would like to do is....Buy a universal muffler from Magnaflow off ebay for a good price, then take it to a local place in town and have it welded in to the stock exhaust piping. What I wonder is, is there a specific universal muffler from magnaflow that will work. Im thinking that not just any one will work. I want a single in/out, don't know what diameter I need or length? Anyone?

Default Damn

Well after having the same magnaflow on my tundra w/ the same 4.0 V6, it sounds a lot different on my Tacoma. I dont like it. I got the 14", thats what I had on the Tundra and it was pretty mellow. This time it's pretty loud...im suprised it's sooo different with the same engine. Im thinking of paying to have the damn stock can put back on....what a waste of money.

I do like having a nice rumble but this sounds like a motorcycle to me. I thought about trying a different magna or something else...but what if it's not quiet enough and I waste even more money?

I was actually enjoying having it silent when I first bought it.

Anyone with a new Taco swap out for a nice mellow rumble? No flowmasters....just mellow but better than stock, ya know?

Suggestions?????

Try a larger Magnaflow.

Default don't go with the 14

I agree. I have the 14. Don't like it. Sounds terrible under load. I too was thinking of swapping back. Although, now I'll give some thought to the 18.

Yep 18" is much quieter. 24" is even quieter than that!

I definately read that post before hand. I guess I thought it would be pretty close to the same sound on my Tundra. I had the 4.0 V6 tundra with the same part # Magnaflow....it was perfect. I did have headers too but I figured that wouldnt make it quieter if anything that would make it louder. So I figured if anything it would be same or quieter. Nope I was wrong. I guess the cats are different or something on the Taco?

I've been reading up on cat backs for the 05 Tacos. I see they have a cat back for the 4.0 by Borla and TRD too. I might just get the simple bolt on TRD. The can is just a little smaller than stock. I wish I could find a soundbyte of the 4.0 w/ the Borla. Found one with the TRD but it had a aircharger and was hard to determine what you were hearing.
