I have the K&N kit also. Added headers, exhaust and throttle body spacer at the same time though so it's hard to credit the K&N for a specific amount of power increase but the combination of the 4 components sure woke up that 4.7! None of the add-ons gave anymore noticiable low end power but after 2500 rpm it pulls hard.

    thanks,aika
It doesn’t gum up the O2 sensor it gums up the MAS sensor (Mass Air Flow Sensor) that’s the little metal box that is just after the air filter because people use to much oil on the K&N filter it easy to clean if this happens.

Neither. If you want all around power and want constant steady mileage, stay with the stock setup.

i have a 2005 dc with the k & n set up. it sounds good better pick when i step on it but not 100% happy since its not a true CAI. just has a shield that still sucks in hot air. im thinking about going with volant CAI since it seems to be a true CAI and it is the only CAI mapped for unichip. ive only had it in for about 2 weeks with a different cone that works a little better and filtering.... if any one wants to take it off my hands make me an offer ...or mabey ill keep it still on the fence about it..

I've been considering staying with the stock set up but with just the K&N filter. Thanks for the advice.

K&N is great for increased airflow....but at what particle size? Amsoil may have a better solution with their nanofiber filters which give you equal or better airflow without the oil and better filtration. Check it out at amsoil.com

Yeah but the Amsoil filter is excellent - I love mine. I am debating on what to do with my True Flow filter and oil. Contemplating building a different intake tube. Maybe time to look McMaster Carr and drool over project material.

Need Help! I installed a cold air intake kit on my 2000 Toyota Tundra and it worked great! Now, I am having trouble with the check engine light constantly coming on. The diagnostic computer says a myriad of things, such as fuel cap, fuel mixture etc.... I have replaced the fuel cap, however, I am believe the vaccum hoses may be routed wrong. The K&N instructions were extrememly vaugue about how to properly to attached the hoses to the new intake system. I hooked them up best I can but am thinking this may be the problem. Does anyone know how these hoses are to be hooked up, i.e. which hose to which port? Anyone else encountered this issue? Thanks, Don

I had one on my 05 and had no issues. Are you sure the MAF is not backwards? That is a common problem when some re install them to the new tube. You can go on line and image search or youtube search hose routings for your truck and compare that way.
