This is a discussion thread titled "Supercharger & Dual Exhaust Cost", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I'm somewhat mechanically illiterate, but I'm thinking about getting a SC and dual exhaust for my 01 tundra. Is the dealership the best place to go for this or and what's the ballpark price to do it?
Had duals put on my 01 for 500 at a Midas shop.Cost me 550 at specialty muffler shop on my 03 this spring, cost would be more for a packaged performance system.I'm happy with both makes a tough truck noise.Outlet pipe size makes quite a difference in sound the larger the louder have 3 1/2 on one 3 on the other like the larger better.S/c had installed by my nondealer mech. very knowledgable your 01 maybe not covered under engine warenty dont know.Paid 2300 for a used s/c on line ran about 1000 to have it installed on my 03.
You paid $1000 to have your s/c installed by a non dealer tech? Thats pretty high. I wouldn't pay half that. I dont know what your guys hourly rate is, but the install doesn't take more than 6 hours for a decent non toyota mechanic.
Just lookin out for you. I installed mine in a half day, and most independant shop rates are not over $65 an hour. $540 is about average that ive seen.
