Post 05-06 Tacoma Exhaust Opinions

Well I've been debating on getting a pair of headers (JBA) for my truck along with an exhaust system... I origionally had my mind set on replacing the factory muffler with a Magnaflow 24" though I've been looking around more and finding more options..

Has anyone heard a Banks Power Monster Exhaust kit on a toyota... I spoke with a banks rep the other day and they are expecting a 4.0L kit to come out for the Tacoma mid January... Sound clips would be even better though I realize those can be hard to come by sometimes.

JBA headers available in a 3" outlet? Thought about doing a 3" system just to get the extra power outta the truck..

Lets get a really good exhaust thread going here... Opinions, Experiances please..

I don't have any input on a full exhaust system but since we are trying to get an exhaust thread going...I have a Flowmaster Original 40 on mine (just muffler replaced only). There is a clip in my gallery if anyone is interested.

increasing diameter size piping will actually reduce low end torq.. becareful there when deciding on 3 inch.... the stock set-up is 2.5 inch if I am correct???.. and unless you are throwing down some impressive dyno numbers other than a stock truck than it is pretty much a waste to increase the diamter of the piping.

ARE the manifolds, cat convert, mufflers and piping that restrictive??

Just a basic rule of thumb is 2.5 inch for naturally aspirated v6 and 3 inch for v8. You will in fact loose torque by going larger, plus why would you want to. The factory stainless 2.5 inch exhaust is clean, fits nice. Just go for a replacement muffler. I have a flowmaster 50 series and new tip and is sounds great, no warranty issues, no loss of torque and still have nice fitting factory exhaust. If we were talking about some turbo 4 or 6 cylinder then ya, 3 inch or larger would make sense, but not for this truck, its a waste of money. Go buy a bad *** head unit or speakers or something.

I just put the trd full exhaust on my o6 doublecab and It is all that and a bag of chips. I had a man tell me the other day that he thought it sounded like a v8 it sounds tuff.

I have a Spintech muffler on my v6 Tacoma. Personally I listened to many sound clips at CustomTacos and most sound the same, with slight variances in tone (some more hollow, some more drone). I went with the Spintech muffler because it was throatier. Now I know that its not a v8, but I did want something deeper and meaner for a v6 (kind of like the 350z). Spintech did the job! Now just waiting for a good intake...

For some of my clips...
