Forced Induction SystemsDetailed discussions regarding cold-air intake systens, superchargers, turbo chargers, and other induction systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Exhaust To Wake The Neighborhood", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I had a 2004 Toyota Tundra before I got the 06 I had duals coming out the back with a single Chamber flowmaster on it and I took the Air restrictor plate off. Would the Mac Chambers be louder then that??
loud is on thing but sometimes quiet is better appreciated. why not just install cut electric cut outs so you can be loud when you want to and quiet when you want to be sneeky

I bought this 4runner for $200. Currently its not running but I hope it will soon. I got some sweet plans for it. Post pics as I go.
The title of this thread reminds me of a neighbor I'd wake up. This was in 1959 and I was almost done installing a 1955 Dodge hemi in my 1947 Plymouth sedan. All that remained was fabricating exhaust pipes to dual mufflers and putting the hood, grill, bumper and front fenders on. Bear in mind this is small town NW Minnesota and all the work had been done outside during spring and early summer. I'd been riding a bicycle to work for my 6:30 am job for three months and now the car was not finished but it was drivable. Day number one car drove well and I worked on pipe fabricating that night. Following morning exhaust still coming out of the manifolds I arrive at work and the phone rings. It was a neighbor that lived across the alley from where I parked the car. He informed me that if I didn't quieten that car down by the next morning I would hear two sounds when I started it. First sound would be my open manifolds and the second would be his 30-06. I knew he wouldn't shoot me but I wasn't certain that he might not fire a round into my engine. I rode my bicycle for another week and quickly worked completing the exhaust. Funny sometimes how consideration can improve with a little incentive

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
The MAC Pro Chambers are just a little louder then FlowMAster 40s and not as loud as FlowMaster single chamber. But the MAC is WAY deeper in tone. Plus the really do work beeter, meaning the main reason for FlowMasters is to be loud with a hint uf performace, Pro Chamber mufflers are meant to increase performance (they are drag car mufflers) and the badass sound/tone you get from them is a by-product. They only offer sizes and not models like FlowMaster. 2 1/2" is fine for a 4.7 liter. 2 1/2" will support about 550hp. If your Tundra makes more that that go with 3". One 2 1/2" MAC muffler will suport 250hp, you will be fine with two. Warranty issues should not be a problem (you could put a home made tubo kit and it would not void the warrty), and if they are you shouldnt modify your truck.
These are sounds from Mustangs but its still a V8. only differance is that Mustangs have "h" or "x" pipes (witch a good exhaust system needs). If you know what FlowMasters sounds like, then you can hear the differance. Not hollow and raspy sounding, just deep rumble at idle and roar at high RPMs. I will never use anything other that MAC Pro Chambers again. The sound clips dont do them justice at all, after I installed my MACs in my mustang I was blown away! They can be a little loud, but you can control it with your right foot. If you want them quite jsut drive normal, if you want them loud, floor it! The fourth one is what my GT sounded like.
Are you able to put a X pipe or H pipe on a Tundra? If so where could I get on for a good price? My Tundra runs 271 Horses should I get the 3" center in and offsent out or 3 offset in and offset out?? Thanks for the help and your mustang sounds great thats the kind of sound I'm looking for just wanted to know what all I should get and have put on.
I guess you feel "the he** with the neighbors, their peace and quiet don't count".

They also set car alrms off like crazy. When I would start my GT in the morning, you could feel it in my living room in your chest. When my wife would come home in the GT, I could here her many blocks away and when she got about two blocks away I could feel it in my chest. They also flow REALLY good and work better than any FlowMaster out there. They are pretty loud about the same as FM 40s, but are WAY WAY deeper in tone. Window shaking tone. Check them out. The best in performance and sound.

That's why you move to the burb's to get away from people like that
My neighbors don't seem to mind but then again I have to not give it so much gas in the morning's.

You can get an X or H pipe from Summit, about $80.00 (they have a few differant types and prices) or any good muffler shop should have or can get you one. If you want one on your Tundra it will have to be a custom set up. A shop shouldnt cost too much or if you can MIG weld, just get the tubing bent at a shop and build it yourself. All an H pipe does is balance pressure between right and left side sylinders. They work awsome, any performance car or truck WILL have one. As far as center in/offset out or offset in/ center out, Im not sure. You will have to "plan" and draw out your system to find out wich one will work. Its not as bad as people think it is to build a custom exhaust system. And it well worth it! Also 3" is overkill (even if you have a supercharger or turbo), but you can stiil use it if you want. Its not going to give you more power, in fact you might lose a little power down low with a 3".
