Forced Induction SystemsDetailed discussions regarding cold-air intake systens, superchargers, turbo chargers, and other induction systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Exhaust To Wake The Neighborhood", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
If you are going to do a custom exhaust do this: From the headers back: 2 1/2" tubing all the way, (2) high flow cats, an H pipe, split into right and left side mufflers, (2) MAC 2 1/2" Pro Chamber mufflers and over the axle out the back or right off the side off the bed. If you are just going to weld a MAC Pro Chamber in place of your stock muffler a 3" will be perfect (remember to carry 3" from the muffler to the exhaust tip). Just match the offsets of the stock muffler and if you do just replace the muffler you (or a shop) will need adapters to fit the 3" muffler to the stock exhaust pipe size. And dont forget the chrome tip!
I had Flowmaster #50, no resonators, and headers as far as exhaust goes. I hope I didn't wake my neighbors up every morning at 3am when I went to work.
A really big thing that helps the sound is bigger tips once you have all of that. Right before I sold my Tundra, I got bigger tips (3") and it actually helped reverberate the sound better.
With the Series 50 instead of 40, it'll make your truck sound like a tricked out Firebird more than anything, more full-bodied and less trashy; but it takes some breaking in. When I stood behind it and had my friend rev it, I was blown away.

Does anyone have this exhaust? If so, how does it sound and how is the performance? Im thinking of getting these. I have the FM Super40 on right now and it sounds good but it sounds like every other truck here. Looking for an original look and sound.
Has anybody here had any experience with the Gibson cat back (single tip) exhaust? I have been thinking about getting one. Any thing you could compare it to?
I have the TRD Dual Exhaust on my 06 Tundra Dbl Cab..
It has a good rumble at low speeds..
On the highway it is not that noticeable, except when accelerating & passing..
Toyota claims the TRD Dual Exhaust adds approx 15HP..
I do notice the low end punch over the stock Tundra..

I have the borla duals with cat back and wile it's "OK" I am somewhat over the noise almost describe it as a drooling loud rumble that wakes everybody up around 2 RPM maybe ill change the muffler and still retain the dual aspect...
Performance really havent noticed a gain however with that stated the low end power seemed to lose slighly adding the Borla dual's which i will get tested on the dyno...

I have Bassani it it sounds great! Not to loud but loud enough to share the noise. If I want to have some real fun, I just unbolt the Bassani after the resonator and slip it off the hangers, takes maybe 10mins. Now that is loud and fun but after a while It gets old and back in it goes the Bassani.
Only other thing I can recommend that hasn't been mentioned is a electronic cut out or two. Hit the switch and you are running straight headers. LOL If you like nascar sounds you will like that. I ran those on my 02 SS.
A good friend of mine that moved their claims that everyone has a pickup truck with the exhaust missing and a big dog in the back of the truck.
Nothing like venting right off the headers to wake up the whole town.
Hey but wait she claims it is a rampant thing.

i understand the desire of the increased hp and the throatiness achieved from an aftermarket exhaust or intake system, but why would you want to actually "wake" the neighborhood? do you really want to be That Guy who 'nex around the neighborhood like some slackjaw and everyone knows it's You who's coming home.
Did you get enough attention when you were a child?
STRAIGHT PIPES> true dual from headers back leave stock cats and no mufflers.. i have it and its LOUD. louder than chevys w.o mufflers. sounds awsome!!!! 2 loud exhaust tickets tho.
