Default Exhaust Question

Got an '05 Tundra DC, w/TRD Package, I crawled under it today because something was clunking when I drove into driveways at certain speeds; but I was noticing on it, there are two little canister things behind the headers, that go into another single cylinder, which then goes to a larger cylinder (I think muffler) then to the exhaust pipe and out.

Just wondering what those other 3 canisters are?

They are fairly small, but long, the 3rd ond looks kinda like a smaller muffler.

Obviously I know nothing about exhaust systems!

Just curious because my local muffler shop doesnt want to touch before the catalytic converter, cause they said lots of dealerships dont like when you mess w/ before the catalytic converter.

Well in this pic the first matching "bumps" are the resonators which help keep drone down. Drone is annoying exhaust noise inside the cab. The second after the 2 pipes become 1 is the cataletic converter. Then the muffler.

You can do whatever you want to any part of the exhaust as long as it does not break any sound or smog laws in your state and that all the factory components that make the truck run correctly are in place like the o2 sensors. At least I think that is the case.

I thought the two matching "bumbs" are the cats? Because we have 4 O2 sensors....two before each cat then two after each cat. Then the one smaller looking muffler is the resonator? The resonator is strait through glass pack design i'm sure.

CRAP! You are correct. I was trying to do this to fast and barely looked at the picture. I guess I'm still stuck on the old 4 cylinder motors. 1 cat.
