Hello,
I am trying to find the right exhaust for my 05 Tundra. A friend of mine has TRD and I love the growl. I just don't want to spend the money for it. Right now I am thinking of a Magnaflow or Gibson exhaust. Keeping the 2 3/8 pipe. Any advice?
There are a bunch of threads in this forum that give some good details on exhaust systems and how they effected the performance/sound. You may want to check those out to help you with your decision.
I was in the same boat at you, I was looking for something that would not break the bank. I ended up going with a dual in / Dual out magnaflow and had new pipes put in after the cat's to take out the restrictive "Y" that come from the factory. I am very happy with it sound and performance
I've posted this suggestion before without much response, but here it goes again..........
On my 05 DC, I disconnected the stock exhaust AFTER the resonator, and before the stock muff. There is a slip connection there. I had a shop bend a new 2 1/2 pipe to go from that connection, and exit out the stock location. Thats right, just eliminate the stock muffler. The sound is great, with no drone at any rpm.
It is too easy to try and see if you like the sound or not, just unbolt it and drive around the block. If you like it, have a shop bend you a new tailpipe, and be on your way, with $200 in your pocket. My shop charged me $75 for the work. Check my pics, I have a short clip where you can hear the results.
Heck, it's free to try
Good luck!
