Forced Induction SystemsDetailed discussions regarding cold-air intake systens, superchargers, turbo chargers, and other induction systems for your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "TRD performance exhaust", within the Forced Induction Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Just test drove a 07 with the TRD on it......Sounds great....felt more responsive...but the truck was new. Sounded so good that i'm going to be getting it for my truck.
Check out a Borla, which is around the same price. I recently bought the Borla and I love it. Shop around for a good price. I would be leary of getting it through a dealer because they jack up the price. Good Luck.
I have the TRD duals on my Tundra. They are very expensive...more than twice what they should be IMO. The fit and finish is excellent though, 304 stainless throughout. Just a bit louder than stock, but no performance improvement whatsoever, as tested at a dragstrip.
Just put a Magnaflow, Flow Master, Borla, etc.. of your choice muffler on the truck and call it good. You'll get the same sound, performace, etc.. and it'll cost you under $100 for the muffler rather than $400+ for the full 2.5" exhaust that you already have from the factory.

I had a Magnaflow Catback System on my Tundra and the sound was perfect. I loved it. I am going to go with Magnaflow on my Taco. The only down sides to Mangaflow is Price and Fit, the clamps they use will cause some leakage. Not a lot but a little. I solved that problem with a thin piece of sheet metal some thin snips and a torque wrench. Good luck. Magnaflow and JBA both have sound clips on their websites so you can listen!
Any decent muffler shop can put a good muffler and a quality chrome tip of your choice on for WAY less than a cat back system. I just had a Magnaflow stainless muffler and nice angled chrome tip installed last Friday for $175.00 sounds great under a full load and cruising. Resonates just a bit to much for me at low RPM take off's. Called the muffler shop and they said bring it back. There gonna try a resonator first and if I'm still not happy we will try a different muffler at NO CHARGE. That's why I like to deal with real people and real customer service.
Try doing that once you made your on-line purchase for a cat back system.
On another note though I had the single side exit Borla cat back on my old 2000 Tundra and loved it. The sound was perfect. Not to loud but just enough to let you know you had a V-8. The bad news was at the time it was $500.00 Stupid me. could have had the same system built at the muffler shop for guess what?? $200.00

I was wondering if the TRD exhaust is a good buy. Does it sound much fdifferent than stock? How about HP gains?
I recently installed a Magnaflow system on my 2006 Tacoma TRD Offroad. I did quite a bit of research and concluded that the Magnaflow system was the best quality and sound. As it turns out the quality was top notch and the sound is a defenite improvement over stock. Nice and quiet on the highway until you get on it. Some resonence at around 2000-2500 rpm when under moderate load. Overall quite happy and looks great too.
