GPS and Navigation AssistanceOEM Car, Aftermarket and handheld navigation discussions.
This is a discussion thread titled "Camera location picture - Sequoia", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I just had a backup camera installed in my 07 Sequoia. I used the BEC 105, and it is plug and play in the E7006 Nav unit. (Nothing new here). What might be new is where they put the camera. They removed the lock and used that hole to site the camera. It was secured in place with epoxy and turned out to be a very good looking mount. Here is a link to a picture: http://www.pbase.com/image/79986278.jpg
Anyone else choose that location? Any other locations you want to share?
BTW, install was done by Circuit City. $199 for the camera, $75 for the install (took about 2.5 hours).
The SUV is locked/unlocked with the remote. I can't remember using the key - ever. The back window is lowered with the remote, and raised with the switch in the front. I could have cut a new hole for the camera, and I thought of doing just that. A location on the left side, opposite the camera would have been a good choice. I opted for the lock location because the installer said a white edge would shot where he cut, and touchup paint would have to be used to cover it.

Thanks for the bu camera info. Any idea how much it would be if I do not have Nav.? I would need a monitor of course. Sure circuit city can help there. I have a 03 Sequoia and have been interested as well in putting in a 2nd monitor up front attached to the factory dvd player. Wonder if I can kill 2 birds with one stone. Anya input is much appreciated. Cheers - Gasoel
Look for a used Toyota E7006 or E7007 on ebay or Craigslist. You can find a deal if you are patient.

There is a big difference from the E7006 and the E7007/8/9's (which are basically the same). They will all fit but the later ones have much more capiblities. Use the search function if you want more details. The difference in price is generally be more for the later models.

I just finished mounting the camera. It is behind the rear window inside the car. The window does not impede the view at all. Take a look at the pix I have if you click on my camera. <img src="http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo.../DSC05554e.JPG" />
