GPS and Navigation AssistanceOEM Car, Aftermarket and handheld navigation discussions.
This is a discussion thread titled "Just bought an E7006. Now what?", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Excuse me? Just WHERE did I say ALL JBL amps where digital? I stated to Novares05 that 'If you have the JBL sound system, you have a digital amp.' That is a statement of fact. He has a 2005 and my response was dead on.
I stated to you, Your '03 amp may even be digital, was it the JBL sound system?' You notice it says 'MAY'? I know some of the '04 Toyota line was digital and wasn't sure about the '03 line. The '04 Sienna JBL amp was digital but had a problem with voice guidance. But none of this implies I said ALL JBL amps were digital.
Last, if you are going to jump into the middle of a thread, it is YOU that needs to provide the 'proof'. I think it is rude for you to jump in and tell someone they have to provide the 'proof'.

You are the first (and ONLY) person I've ever heard say ALL the JBL amps are digital. Everything I've heard on several different websites (T4R, Siennaclub, here, OEMvalue, & several ebay retailers) says the JBL amps (all) up to 2005/2006 (depending on model) were analog. They then changed to digital around that time and is what's used now.
Which makes sense to me and that is actually all I am basing MY info from. Granted, I have never actually taken an o-scope to check the transmission lines (nor will I), so I have no proof to the contrary, and if you don't either, then this may remain unresolved. However, if you have some info you can share to shed light on the subject, I really would appreciate it. I'm sure the others would too.
Now, if you are correct, I'm more than happy saying "Thanks!" for helping me learn something here. But I can't - and won't, just take your word (or anybody else's) over the other info I've found just because the person simply says that they are correct. Please present some proof/insider knowledge/etc to back this up.
The E7006/7/8 are all digital head units. Your '03 amp may even be digital, was it the JBL sound system? Early digital amps did have a problem with the newer digital head units, but I don't recall the exact issue, it never was an issue to me.
Yes, the software for bluetooth is in the E7006. It is totally useless as the hardware is not built into the unit to use it nor have I ever heard of someone being able to add it.

Toyota changed the Headunit's/features on the Tundra to Dital audio with text for the 2003 Tundra. From my knowledge the 2004 is no different from the 2003 headunit but depends on system for amp as well(Jbl or non Jbl amps) . I had Jbl on my 2004 and dumped it.I know my system was was Dital Audio and Dital amp .Also If your system has a Panasonic (showen above)it might have certain limitations on bt/guide working with the newer Oem Toyota navi system's like the 7007. I've seen cases on some year's where re wiring is needed in order to gain BT functions to work .for these reason's it's why I dumped My oem value without BT (bluetooth) Navi and went to a better Aftermarket Hdd based system with more features packed into the overall design and hardware .Good luck with Toyota been that route once now if there is only a way to have the aftermarket Ones with an 08 Hybrid HUMMM. Av-1 You will find some pretty helpfull member's on this Thread Im glad Tundrasoul took my advice and created the Navigation sub catogory it's benifited all of us.
Good luck and Happy Holiday's.
