GPS and Navigation AssistanceOEM Car, Aftermarket and handheld navigation discussions.
This is a discussion thread titled "Where to mount Sequoia GPS Antenna, & extra wire?", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Just got my used NAV unit from ebay. In the middle of the install now. 2 issues.
I have one wire that came with the sale that does not seem to plug into the GPS unit. Its about 2 feet long, consists of a red, black, and white wire, and the small harnesses on each end are identical. Where does that go?
The antenna plug is obvious on the NAV, but where do I mount the antenna itself? The wire is about 3 feet long, and the antenna has 2 small slots in it. Anyone know where this goes?
Re: Where to mount Sequoia GPS Antenna, & extra wire?
More information would help...........is it an OEM NAV unit? After-market? Model #, etc.
Describe the harness on the wire better.
The location for the stock GPS antenna is under the dash and above the radio. (probably why the antenna wire is so short in your case) Most after-market units have very long antenna wires to mount it outside the vehicle.

Re: Where to mount Sequoia GPS Antenna, & extra wire?
yes, its an e7006. Is there a bracket above the radio the antenna clips to? or should I just wedge it to the top of the dash under the insulation? It only has a 2 foot wire with about 5 clips on it.
The other wire is about 3 feet, and actually consists of 3 wires: red, black and white, inside a gray sheath. The harnesses on either end are identical: small, black, look like they plug into a 4 pin setup, even tho there is only 3 wires. It does NOT plug into the e7007! The seller thinks it plugs into the transmission ?!?!?! I pulled out the panels in the console, revealing the JBL amp, and poked aruound under the dash as much as possible. I see NOTHING that this wire plugs into.
Any chance It plugs in behind the instrument cluster?
