This is a discussion thread titled "Avic D3 w/Metra kit installed in 2007 - pix", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I took a few pix of my install. I have been very anal about wanting the gloss black finish on the dash kit, but just couldn't wait any longer. I went ahead and installed the Metra kit for now, and it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. I'm still waiting for that gloss black finish...but am fairly happy right now.
Here's what I have installed:
Metra Dash Kit
Bluetooth module
Backup Camera
iPod adapter

Looks Great...I just bought the same truck except in a DC. I plan on installing the Same Pioneer setup you did.
Which backup camera did you use? any pics of the install? I was hoping to use the Toyota backup camera tailgate latch with the pioneer camera if that would work or the Toy camera wired to the head unit.
Thanks for any Info !!!
Tom

I'm using Pioneers camera - the ND-BC2. I actually just ran the wiring behind the dash, and put it behind the right kick plate for now (near the reverse wire). I've plugged in my camera already, and it works great. The only item I have left to do, is run the wires from the kickplate...back to the tailgate.

Erik,
The D3 does NOT have the tilt feature that the Z1 has. I've been using it all weekend, and absolutely love it. However, it's lacking on a few items that the Z1/Z2 has. I guess there's a good reason the Z1/Z2 is priced a bit higher.
Overall though, I'm VERY VERY VERY happy with it. Bluetooth works great...calls don't sound one bit echoey, the camera is awesome, and the iPod integration is amazing. The navigation has been very pleasant. Although it routes a bit odd sometimes, common sense takes over. POIs, Vicinity Search, fast routing, resolution...everything about it, I love.

Like I mentioned to you via Telephone Pioneer has a better system vs Factory which i've had feature wise you come out ahead vs Toyota. Yea some might say it's Not factory and the fit and finish isn't the same but Overall Im very pleased with my system and the Overall benifits Pioneer provides vs Oem Factory plain jane Unit's. If you have any question's you have my number thanks

Kevo,
PM Erik (Tundrav8georgia). He's always been very helpful with this nav stuff. The D3 doesn't tilt, so I'm not sure how it's done on the Z1. I'm not sure I'd tilt mine any though, since it seems to be at the optimal viewing angle already.
Mine is at the right view unless the sun hits it just right, then it would be nice to tint it just a little to get rid of some of the glare. I know it can tilt I'm just not sure how because I bought it as an open-box deal!

Tint your front window's I have that on my Tundra and I love it cut's out the glare from the sun this picture was taken with full sun and the Tint really makes a difference..
Thanks Erik. I'm trying to prioritize my mods right now. Don't know when the stereo upgrade will come to play. Right now, I have plans for stereo/speaker/sub/amp upgrade, lowering (either all corners or just the rears), sway bar & 22" wheel package.
Will definitely get up with you when it's time for the stereo
