This is a discussion thread titled "Any Tailgate Camera Pic's", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
i don't know, the camera on my tundra looks a lot like that pioneer... anyways, to put that in the handle you're going to have to take it out of the cube thing, it def won't fit with the enclosure on...
also for anyone who needs this info. After doing a lot of digging for the 2007 tundra back up wire , it is the same for all the new tundra’s, the small blue wire in the 11 pin connector at the bottom if the connector collection in pass side kick panel. hope this helps out.
I am installing a D3 in my 2007. Does anyone have a complete list of the items needed to add a backup cam to the unit. ie. which camera should be purchased that would interface with the D3 and also fit into the stock handle camera housing (roughly $75 from the dealer). About to install and would like the factor camera look with direct interface to the D3.
I ran new wires. i pulled in 3 pairs of 16 gauge and 1 pair of rca's for video. 1 pair for power, 1 pair for a lock motor to lock and unlock the tailgate, and 1 extra pair.
I would be interested in a more complete report of what you did and how you did it. Where do the wires exit the tailgage and how well protected are they at that point? Did you wire into the trailer hitch electrical plug? Where did you enter the cab with your wires and where did you attach them to power? Where's your monitor? What more can you tell us? Thanks in advance.
I was trying to look at the pics of the install and get an error 403 on the second image. The install looks like what I want to do - I just can't figure out how the wiring was done and how it's run into the tailgate.
Also, what camera did you use? Crutchfield has one that looks like a small tube.
Sorry guys, I’m not online a lot, I will try to take better pics tonight. I ran the wires under the truck from a grommet under the pass front seat. I followed the stock harness all the way back to the back of the truck. there is a square hole in the bed jamb and also one in the tail gate. you can purchase the tail gate harness for 40.00 from the dealer and remove the wires from it. this will give you the stock boot to run your wires through.
as for the handle I don’t have the part number but I will call my dealer and find out.

Could you post the part number for the handle? Thanks, mate.
I just ordered from "Conicelli" Part number 69090-0C050. The website does not differentiate the handles but his response to my e-mail specifying the need for the camera opening was the above part #.
I measured the opening on a Tundra at the dealer and it was a little over an 1". So I think/hope the cube cmaeras from Kenwood or Pioneer will fit.

No you don't. The Kenwood, which is similiar to the otheres in size (1.16") fits perfectly.
