This is a discussion thread titled "Eclipse 6610 installed in RCSB", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I just got 6610 installed with scoche kit that I was waiting for 3 weeks with all delays.Nice unit a bit pricey but I got it as my installer said it have better sound than pioneer Z2 . Anyway I have ipod ,backup cam also can use it while in D,auto with R, parrot bluetooth , hacked movie while driving ( I would probably get Z2 but at the time of purchase - 3 weeks ago they didn't know how to hack it ,so passenger can watch movie while I drive) and I didn't get traffic as I have it on my Iphone.Scoche kit is nice finish but is not perfect mold as We couldn't zero the gap on bottom I have 2mm gap and top right corner is sticking out little.I've also added myself two LEDs in storage compartment on a switch. And here are the pics of nice clean install http://www.flickr.com/photos/slawek2...th/1167354522/
Great pics! Thanks for posting that. Thats the HU I'll be buying as soon as my Scosche kit comes in and now I know exactly how its gonna look.
You mentioned you have the backup cam. Does it play off of the HU because I noticed you had the head liner pulled apart. Or did you run the wires from the headliner to the back of the HU? I have the factory backup cam in the tailgate handle and was wondering if there were wires already behind the headunit along with the ones in my console where the monitor is now? Also, were you able to keep your steering wheel controls without having to buy any extra adapters? I keep hearing that the Eclipse's are plug and play.
Hey,its a regular cab and there was no option for steering wheel control on my SR5.As for headliner console that was my other project-homelink mirror. We run new wire for camera from unit to rear bumper.I did see harness for camera next to one for mirror in console,
Cheers
Ok, thanks. How you like the Eclipse? Any reason you didnt get the 5510? I'm almost positive I'll get the 6610, but they were so close in options I wasnt sure what the real difference was between the two.
Anything you dont like about the 6610? Any input at all is really appreciated.
I like it it's my first so hard to compare.I'm still learning it.I got 6610 as I wasn't sure if I'll get traffic. It is there in menu so I will probably add it later as they will progress with update and all.So far I don't like that every time I start the engine I have pop up notice about safety driving and watching it.... it also picking up sometimes longer way to target that I know and 150ft is not the best scale it need at least 75ft.
I have had the 6610 in my 05 DC for the last year and a half and love it. The main reason I purchased was for the dual zone feature. I can have the kids in the back watch a movie (headrest monitors and wireless headphones) and the wife and I can listen to the ipod, the radio, or we can watch the movie as well (dont have to listen to cartoons or disney movies). I also have the back up camera which I installed in the tailgate handle (I have a picture of it in my pics folder) which came out really clean. I plan to put the parrot bluetooth in as well (getting tired of that stupid thing on your ear). I had the factory nav before I got the 6610, and this blows it out of the water. A very good product with many upgradable add-ons, that cost almost the same if not less than the factory nav. Good choice.
