Default Aftermarket Nav and OEM backup camera

Will the OEM backup camera work on a Pioneer AVIC-D3 or Z2 NAV unit?
Not sure what the tailgate camera outputs.
I have the 6disc changer and want backup camera but dont like the way the Pioneer camera units mount. THe ND-BC20 looks interesting but is very expensive, however I like the guidance feature. My second interest is the IPOD interface followed by the bluetooth, NAV would rarly be used.
The OEM camera unit built into the tailgate is $270 and is in the center of truck.

Default Toyota Backup camera with Pioneer NAV

Toyota Backup camera with Pioneer NAV
Is the toyota camera a mirror image or is this done in the display?
I found other threads that state the camera will work but not sure about display. Camera also needs less than 7 volts which can be done with a voltage regulator.

I am trying to figure out how to do this as well.

The Toyota camera does not have an RCA plug, so it won't fit aftermarket nav' head units. You have to rewire with a voltage regulator and and some resistors. Some guys have done it. I was hoping to avoid this route(electricity is a mystery to me) by ordering the tailgate housing for the camera and using a Kenwood or similiar camera thus negating the need to splice the wiring etc.

Let me know what you come up with.

Judging from the camera brochures I have been reading, it's done by the camera/control unit.
