Nope, you will have to wait a whole minute at most. Definitly not fire up and ready to go.

Not true. If you start and shift into reverse the camera comes on immediately. You only have to wait if you want to manually turn on the camera.

Bummer, I already purchased and installed the D3 based on the boot up time.
The harddrive would of been nice however, I find myself using the ipod 99% of the time so the nav dvd stays in the unit.

D3 is popular you could get most of your money back on ebay then upgrade to the Z2. I love it. Very nice not having to change back and forth from the Nav DVD and music CD's

one of the downsides on the z1/z2 but I love my navi system much better vs a dvd rom one and does a whole lot more

I'm not seeing the downside. There is no delay on the reverse camera I start the truck throw it into reverse and the camera is on. The only delay is the navigation boot up. Often by the time I shift into drive the unit is booted. Z1 may be different but Z2 camera is instant for reverse.

z1 and the z2 are the same just a little tab bit diff on some small changes nothing i can't upgrade too.
Z2 is just a rebaged Z1 for your information have the same controls and the same overall design it's the firmware that is slightly changed but can be applied to the z1. My Hard drive is also changed to the Z2 Hdd but I have 80 gig's now on my z1 .

hear's an upgrade
