Default Display Problem

I had what i thought was a brilliant idea. I just bought a new GPS (gamin nuvi) and after driving around for a week with it on different spots on the window, i settled that i like it best on the bottom left hand side...even if it meant controlling the thing with my left hand. Yesterday, i took out the speedometer display, the radio, and then the bottom pannel (under the air knobs on the 01 tundra). On this panel there are two additional cigarette plugs. I took the panel off, took off the wiring, took one of the plugs out of its holder, reattached the wiring. The idea was that from the outside the little cover would stop people from seeing the hole where the plug use to be, while the garmin would be plugged into the cig plug and stuffed behind the panel out of sight. That way, no wires cut, and no ugly wires showing. I then ran the wire up past the radio, and over to the drivers side, where i squeezed it through a defrost hole. Then stuffed it in between the glass and plastic for about 6 inches and covered it with foam. Done! Well later that night i went to get groceries, turned on the car and the radio and the lights that illuminated the air cond knobs didnt turn on. Its weird cuase it is like the whole panel lost light power (as the air con still works), expect for the DC plugs at the bottom, and the light illuminating the cig lighter. I havent had a chance to check the fuses as it was dark out. But wanted to post and see if anyone had ideas what might have went wrong. This morning when i fired up the car, the garmin for some reason didnt turn on. I waited about 15 minutes unplugged it and then plugged it in and the wire sent it power this time...put for some reason when i first started the car nothing. You guys got any suggestions of what to check.

Check all the backside plug in connections at the lower portion of the radio/ventilation faceplate bezel. One of the connections may have been left unconnected or came loose.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
